Your university should have an office to help deal with this kind of problems. Are you an undergrad? If so call your undergrad office at the university and they'll point you at the right direction. Good luck!

yeh that is so not right..if they are allowing u to continue ur normal studies they should allow u to do ur finals that way as well....if it was going to be a big concern they should have told u ahead of time...i would make as many phone calls as need be..let then know u r on bedrest and have all the tiim e in the world to make as many calls as need be!

You may want to start with the disabilities office. Every university should have an office or person in charge of disabilities services. See if they can help or
at least direct you.

Something isn't right with that and I would for sure be calling the student advisory line or disabiltiy office or someone...I sure wouldn't accept that! People can be so insensative....I'm sorry they are giving you a hard time. I have my own bedrest struggles, so I feel you....Don't take that though, be loud and make phone calls. They have to allow you to do what you can when you can and understand the situation. Good for you for continuing your school work too, that in itself is commendable, and you should be proud of what you're accomplishing!! Hang in there!!!!

ombudsman. Does your university have an ombudsman? Contact him or her. It sound to me that yo have a good case....because if they make u write your finals, they are putting u and bb in danger...do they really want that kind of liability? I w=sure hope not. Perhaps a new, more strongly worded note from your md is in order.

And the fact is that only women can be pregnant (at least until now! ). Therefore, to me this seems a sort of sex discrimination, because it is unfair to you on account of your maternal condition, when they should try to accommodate your needs.

If all else fails, go to the press! Call, or write your newspaper editors, tv, radio, etc. It would make for a great story, and shame them into backing down, most likely.

You know what the bad thing is? This is a Baptist University!!! You would think that they would be willing to help, but anytime I have to take care of anything over there I end up having to go into their offices and yell at someone until something gets done! Unfortunatly I can't go do that this time, but my fiance is about ready to go down there and beat someone lol.

Tomorrow I have to go and give a presentation that is worth 25% of my grade because they wont let me broadcast it online like we have been doing classes the past 2 weeks. I had to call and get special permision from my doc so I can do this and he told me as soon as I am done to come back home ... luckaly I signed up to be first ... and if they get mad when I leave I will end up going off on someone.

personally i think the discrimination is less ot do with her sex and that she is pregnant. it's that she is pregnant and not married and that they likely feel put out by haveing to aconidate something they disagree with.

It doesnt make it any less of a pain in the ass though. i hope you make as much noise as you can, they shouldnt be able to do that to you.

I work at a University...what I would tell any student is to start with their disabilities services office. If you can get this office to help you or recognize this as a medical condition that requires the University make reasonable accomodations to assist you. I'm not sure how that would translate, but it is a start. You will need medical documentation from your doctor.

I have a note from my doctor that says I am suppose to remain in bed until further notice because of 3rd trimester bleeding. I made sure that my fiance gave each of my professors a copy of the note, but I haven't heard anything from any of them. I am just about ready to give up because the more think about it and the more I stress about it the sicker I seem to get.
