Well, sometimes it works, sometimes it does not. I believe it is contraindicated if you are group b strep positive.

I would NOT have it done until you are at least past you dare by a few days, that is for sure. You do not say how far along you are.

Know that is is your right to say NO to any procedure you do not want, unless it is one that may put your life or your child's life in imminent danger. Stripping the membranes is an elective, adn not always good, a bit painful, and does not always work anyway. So, I would avoid it, if possible.

I will be 39 weeks... I know exactly when I conceived because of IVF. My OB mentioned it, so that I don't go past due... I will have to ask him more about it.

I had it done with both my kids. Worked like a charm with my first, with my son it was a no go... It did start contractions but they never turned into anything. It will only work if your body is good and ready to go into labor.

And unlike Franny7, having mine stripped didn't hurt at all. It was done during a check to see if my cervix was dialated (at my request) and I couldn't even tell she did anything.

I am having this done on 9th march as I will be 40+1 by then. I'm really hoping it works

If you are nervous, talk to your medical staff and ask anything you are worried about. It's your body after all
