For those of you who have Medicaid, how long did it take after you applied for it before it was in effect and you could use it?

I got mine about a month after I applied for it. However, in the meantime I could still go to the doctor, have bloodwork done, and such. They didn't charge me for the services, they just backdated everything. They can do that for up to 3 months. Every state is a little different, though.

It took about a month for them to say I was approved, they kept asking for different things. However, once I was approved the Medicaid was retro'd to the day that I applied and all visits during that time were then covered.

I like in Alabama and it takes them 6 weeks to get my medicaid! With my daughter I didnt get to see a Doctor till I was 12 weeks pregnant! But my doctor doesnt see you untill its approved! Its really good that some doctors dont make you wait though!

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus).
