ok heres my thing with the whole maternity wear.I live near a big mall and all kinds of clothing stores.The mall has a maternity store just for maternity wear.And all the stores have the maternity section too.But heres my problem..I am a larger woman.I weighed about 250 before i got pregnant and I cannot find any maternity clothes that fit.I have to shop in the plus size section and buy like 3x clothes just so the waist will fit but the rest is so baggie so I wind up looking and feeling like hell.I dread shopping for maternity clothes cause it makes me feel like the world is saying sorry only skinny girls have the right to get pregnant...your fat so youll never get laid so theres no reason for us to make maternity clothes for you.Honestly it really ticks me off.My poor husband has to watch me walking around the store crying because I feel so horrible and like I dont deserve to be pregnant cause I cant fit into any of the maternity clothes.I couldnt even find a maternity support belt that fit me,it took days.And whats messed up is that Im not that big. I wear x large tees and my pre pregnant dress size was 20. Its hard enough to feel pretty or sexy with being pregnant with having to deal with the size 0 maternity clothes on top of it all.

I still wear a lot of bright colors. I love soft fabrics, especially breezy ones. My favorite pants are these sari style silk pants that tie on. Remember though that pregnant women also tend to have a leaking problem, so a lot don't tend to wear a lot of dresses. I also like to wear stripes, b/c looking at me from the front it's harder to tell I'm pregnant until I turn to the side.

Empire waist shirts that show a little cleavage are breazy and comfortable, especially with pants that make our hips look smaller.

Also since we'll be wearing our maternity clothes for a little while after having the baby, incorporating nursing designs would be a great idea. Most nursing bras come up too high, while nursing shirts go down too low. Fixing that would be a big help.

what a cool project

Breast are just huge. One thing I have found about maternity clothes is that designers assume you want to show WAY TOO much cleavage. Just because we are pregant does not me aI want the world to see my boobs. Minimal sexy cleavage with good support is doable


Think the bump is beautiful so I don;t mind it being on show

Soft fabrics, some stretch so that it grows with you as your belly grows

I don't mind showing off the new breast at all. Cleavage is great! I also feel proud of the belly so showing that is great too. I can tell you what I don't like when shopping for maternity clothes...cheap fabric with loud patterns on it. Reminisant of 70's plus size clothes. I also like empire waits better than the tent that comes out from the boobs. Form fitting is good too, so I don't feel like a hippo wearing a sac. Is their a magic way to hide a big butt? :) I don't want to look dumpy or too matronly.

If I were going to a Christmas party, I think a dress would be good, but pants are fine too as long as they are stylish and comfortable.

I think trousers are less comfortable than dresses in terms of the bump! I personally prefer black at the moment because it is slimming, but that's just my own personal thing, people keep telling me to brighten up :p I think a floor length dress sounds good but not too tight, gotta have some flow to disguise the bigger bum/thighs :D I vowed last week to open my own maternity shop one day- I live in a small city in England which has 2 maternity sections!! So frustrating. I have to order everything online it sucks.
