Well at my first real Dr appoitment with my OB I had a Urine test, weight, blood pressure, and then blood drawn. They will probably test your urine to see if you are PG right there but I was transfered from a IVF Dr so I did not have that done. I then was asked many questions such as the last period, my blood type any pysical problems I may have or any surgeries so on and so on. Then the Doc will do a pap test YAH how much Fun. You may have some bleeding from this which is normal but if you have any concerns call the Dr and let them know about it. I then had a internal ultra sound. I was already 11 weeks along so I was able to see and hear the heart beat. Do not freak out if you are not able to because you will not be that far. I would have some questions for the Dr ready like what foods you can eat or how much weight he or she would want you to gain. Also let them know about your busy schedual and see if you should cute back on this at first or when to start to cute back on it. Good luck and I wish you a happy and healthy 9 months.

my 1st appt i was only 6 weeks and they did an ultasounds and just talked to me, then the second was all the questions a blood work, and heartbeat...today is my 3rd and it starts the standard appts...hear the beartbeat, weight, bloodpressure..

Well I haven't been to my first appt yet w/ this baby but for my last one they did an ultrasound (done internally) and then I met w/ the doctor who did a regular gyn exam since I would miss my annual appointment. And he also used soemthing for the heartbeat. Oh and the urine test - I did that at EVERY visit. I don't remember a blood test but it may have happened. I went at 8 weeks.

My first doctor's appointment was a mess! I went today and saw a nurse instead of a doctor, the doctor will see me on Friday since there is a wait list for her. Ugh!

I didn't get to see the doctor until I was 12 weeks along. At 8 weeks I only saw a nurse who just asked health history questions, and had a video for me to watch (which was about as stupid as they come). Heck I didn't even get my 1st ultrasound until I was 20 weeks and there are no future ultrasounds unless medically necessary. Every place is different.

I do know that my sister-in-law with her first 2 kids, who were born in Germany, she had an ultrasound each and every visit, but when her third kid was born in the US they only did 2 ultrasounds, one at 20 weeks and one about a week before she delivered due to his position.

Oh my doctor's appointment was a mess. I couldn't see my doctor due to the waiting list and she will be seeing me on Friday instead. So I saw a nurse, the RN miscounted the days I'm pregnant she told me I'm four weeks when really I'm three weeks. I told her she had to be wrong with that count and she said ''oh well your doctor will inform you on Friday on all of this, it's not really my place to say.'' - I had pap smear, a blood test and I was asked a bunch of questions. They also did my vitals which were fine. That was basically it for this appointment, I go again on Friday to see my doctor. I hope everything works out. Does this all sound right to you guys or did I have a messed up experence?!

What they did at your appointment was normal but not seeing a doctor was weird. Is there another doctor that you can go to that is not so busy that you would actually be seen by a physican instead of a nurse?

I'm returning on Friday to actually see my doctor. - I was told that I wouldn't be seeing her when I made my appointment because there is a waiting list. I was okay with it because I figured the nurse could get all of the other stuff out of the way and that way when I do see my doctor we can have all that extra stuff behind me. I am thinking of a different doctor though.

My friend has only seen her doc once or twice... she is almost 7 months. She sees a NP or a PA. If it's a solo doctor office then it's not uncommon.

With my first I only saw my doc every time but during my delivery he was not the doctor on call. This time I have a group of midwives and I meet a new one at every appointment so that I am familiar with them because one of them (on call) will deliver baby.

If it still makes you uncomfortable after you meet with the doctor then switch. It is not too late at all!
