I'm so happy for you!
I only have 4 weeks to go and although I'm scared
I'm also really excited to get it over with so I can see my little man.
Good luck and an early congrats!
You can also search these pregnancy discussions (see search bar at bottom) by typing in INDUCTION to find out more.
There are some things that can help bring on labour too...like sex, especially with orgasm, AND ejaculation (the seminal fluid has prostaglandins that help ripen your cervix) (it's probably gonna be the last time you have sex for 6 weeks or so; enjoy it!); daily exercise; going on all fours and srubbing the floor, and so forth. Also, ask you md if he has stripped your memberanes. This alone can often bring on labour.
Good luck and keep us posted!

With my second son I tried the spicy food, bumpy car ride, the swings, sex... nothing happened!(I was at my due date, not past) But I have heard others tell about labor starting shortly after sex, so I still think that if you are ready that is the best trigger! Lots of walking too to put gravity to work!
Hopefully your body gets the message over the weekend!
Have a safe, healthy & happy delivery!
If you are uncomfortabel with the induction, se if they will be willing to give you an extra few days. There is no set rule.
I know with my #2, they wanted to induce me even like 2 weeks before my due date! He was just one day late, in the end.
Some moms always deliver their babies at 37 weeks, some at 42 weeks. We all have different bodies, and may therefore have different gestational periods. THe AVERAGE IS 40 WEEKS. BUT + OR - 2 WEEKS is still within the norms...as long as you pass the non-stress test, and get another ultrasound, you may be able to wait it out a few days. Also, keep in mind that most first-borns ARE late in general...statistically speaking.
Here is link that discusses the post-dates, etc., that you may wish to discuss with your md...

Using Nipple Stimulation to Induce Labor
Using nipple stimulation to induce labor has been practiced by women for centuries. This stimulation brings about the release of oxytocin, which is the natural form of pitocin. Oxytocin causes contractions, which can lead into true labor. It's important to note that this will only happen if your body is already close to labor. As with all natural labor induction techniques, don't attempt this until you are over 40 weeks.
It is a practice often recommended by midwives when a woman is long past due or when labor is stalled. It causes the release of oxytocin, the same hormone that causes uterine contractions. This can be done manually or with an electric breast pump.
When this is performed, the uterus sometimes becomes hyperstimulated, meaning that it gets too little rest between contractions, so use caution and consult your practitioner first.
Here is a guide to help you understand the process:
1. Only massage one breast at a time.
2. Grasping the areola, rub in a circular motion until a contraction begins. It's important to mimic the suckling action of a baby.
3. Stop after the contraction begins.
4. Wait 15 minutes, then repeat.
Stop using nipple stimulation if the contractions are 3 minutes apart or lasting 1 minute or longer.
Any way that yo can negociate for one or two more days with your md? I really believe that baby willnot come unless he is ready. Maybe they could do an ultrasound to check the level of amniotic fluid and stuff, and hang on just a bit more? As long as you are fine, and continue to feel movements, exp. after eating, you should still be ok.
NS is a great thing. t worked for my friedn who had a home birth at 42 weeks +1 day!
It is even better to get a breast pump, or enlist dh's help to stimulte the nipples.
Other things you can try is castor oil, lots of sex with ejaculation; it helps ripen the cervix! Acupuncture (can sometimes, if done at specific points, trigger labour)...and try to be active. Get on all fours, and rescrubyour kitchen floor!
Hope this helps, Keep us posted!
