Dealing w/ nosy people before announcing pregnancy
fiorghra
I just found out I'm pregnant yesterday. I'm probably 4 or 5 weeks along. My husband and I agreed to wait to announce it, and I am great with that. I'm very concerned about miscarriage, it scares me. It's my first pregnancy. But what I'm not sure of is what to tell people when they ask me?? I'm not good at lying. I don't want to lie, I hate it, it makes me feel like crap. I have one friend in particular who asks me EVER SINGLE WEEK. And she knows my period is late (because I don't lie...I answer questions when she asks and she asks TOO MANY and at work too where it could be easily overheard!)...what do I say when she asks me AGAIN a few days from now? How do I avoid telling her information we aren't ready to share without lying and without clearly revealing our news? Does anyone have any suggestions or experience here?

Next time she asks just ask her if its really necessary for her to ask all the time and tell her that its getting really frustrating for you.

Tell to MYOB...Mind Your Own Business. I also agree with the first sentence of KristineR post.

It is very frustrating! I work with her, though we've been friends since elementary school. Luckily, this week I was able to avoid her. It also helps that were busy at work. She has 2 kids under 3 and they are trying for more and she knows we have been trying for a while, so I know she's just excited for it to happen, too. But seriously, give it a rest! If anything she should know what it's like to be trying to keep a pregnancy quiet until further along because she's done it!

I'm sorry you're having to deal with this. It sounds like she is just really excited at the possibility and not understanding your fears. I don't know if you have thought about telling just her since it is nice to have someone to share a secret with and commiserate with over morning sickness and such. If you really don't want to tell her then I think it's ok to politely let her know that you would prefer her to stop asking and you will tell her when you have news to tell. I told a couple of close friends because I wanted to have someone outside my husband to share the news with, and I also wanted to have a support group in place just in case the pregnancy didn't work out.
