I highly encourage breastfeeding, although my experience is not with multiples, which certainly makes it easier. The bond you get from breastfeeding is amazing, so even if you only do it for a short while, I would say it is worth the extra effort. Keeping your milk supply up does take work- you have to commit to regular nursing and/or pumping or your supply drops rather quickly. But I found all the committment to be well worth it. My daughter never tasted a sip of formula, and in her first year of life she also never got sick other than one stomach bug that she caught from her cousin.
In anticition of bf-ing this baby that is due any day now, I just joined the breastfeeding support group...you may want to check into joining as well.

I am a twin, and my mom said it was extremely challenging to breastfeed me and my sister. She made it through the first 6 weeks, then switched to bottlefeeding.

I think you should try to breastfeed as long as possible, because there are so many amazing benefits! But it is SO much harder with multiples, so if its not working out, dont beat yourself up! :)

I definitely think you should try it! You may want to reach out now to a lactation consultant to see if there is a class or if you can get some support/advice on handling multiples. I know it is definitely possible, but being prepared is key. The La Leche League may be a good place to start if you don't know where to find a lactation consultant in your area. Good luck!

My sister who had twins breastfed for a month or two then switched to bottle. Her original plan was just to breastfeed, but that changed when she realized how much time and effort it took.
I personally tried breastfeeding twice and did not care for it, nor did I feel the bond that everyone talks about....
I would suggest trying it out and seeing how it goes...especially if you really want to breastfeed. Don't let the challenge deter you!

I have two breastfeeding experiences, one positive & the other not so positive (wouldn't call it negative though). My daughter was difficult, we had problems almost the entire 7 months I BF her. I did enjoy the closeness & the bond, but it was just a hard experience. That said, I still am glad I at least tried and made it as far as I did. My 7 week old son, however, is a different story. After about a week he got the hang of it and he nurses great. It's a very positive experience and creates an awesome bond. I love BF him, since it's such an easy thing with him. I was tempted to start with formula since I had so many issues with supply with my daughter but I'm so glad I tried, because I'm very happily surprised with how it worked out.
I have no twin BF experience, but the best advice I can offer is to just give it a shot, you never know until you try. Even BF a short while is beneficial to your babies. It does take a lot of work and patience, I can imagine even more so with twins. But it's definitely worth it in my opinion. Good luck with whatever you choose to do!
