Ok ladies so my doctor wants to start me on aspirin in the next couple of weeks since we are not 100% sure what caused me to lose Adelynn. I am terrified to death to start it. I don't even like taking a Tylenol or Benadryl...much less an Aspirin. I am a cardiac nurse, so I have a lot of patients who are on Aspirin. I have heard that it's not good and then I have heard it's good if you are in situations like we are. I guess my question is who else is currently taking it?? Have you had any problems on it?? And has anyone gone on to deliver a healthy rainbow baby while taking it??
I take 1 baby aspirin a day. Just to be on the safe side with clots. I'm 30 weeks with no issues as of yet. I would say taking a full strength is a little iffy, but my doc said one baby aspirin is totally ok.
I am on ASA 81 mg and Lovenox 40 mg. They are recommended by my OB, MFM and hematologist but I have a pretty significant clotting disorder. I was worried about the aspirin at first too. From what I read the NSAIDs can cause problems in the 3rd trimester. My docs said that I could take it up to 36 weeks but I will likely push to stop it at the end of the second trimester.
I have both mutations of the MTHFR and started taking 1 baby aspirin daily at the beginning of my second trimester. I am currently almost 36wks and getting ready to stop it. I had no trouble taking it, but was scared to start it like you. So far all is good :)
Yeah he would be starting me on a 81mg baby. Thanks ladies...I feel less worried now =) I am trying to trust this new doctor but it's really hard.
I'm glad you posted this because my doc said nothing about stopping during the 3rd trimester (I'm 30 weeks). Now I'm freaked out and wondering what I should do. Is my body used to it and will begin clotting. They put me on it just as a precaution. Well I will be asking some questions on Tuesday....ugh, it never ends...
With my rainbow, docs placed me on daily 100mg aspirin from week 4 onwards and 40mg daily Clexane injections from 6 weeks onwards (similar to Lovenox i believe).
I tested negative for all clotting disorders, but yet, they found blood clots in the placenta which caused the death of my angel. Docs decided that they would rather be safe than sorry and but me on blood thinning meds (i.e. aspirin and clexane).
I have felt some criticism from other members of this website regarding people like myself who "introduce foreign substances into their bodies", but I decided to trust my docs and to do anything they think may be helpful to delivering a healthy baby.
@lilyrainesmom, I know what you are saying about whether your blood will "start clotting" when you stop. :) I felt exactly the same. I asked my doc and she advised that I should take both the aspirin and clexane up to the day prior to my induction at 38 weeks. This made me feel much better! I took my last aspirin at 5pm and was induced the next day at 8am. No issues!!!
My rainbow is now almost 4 weeks old and so far so good.
I have mthfr and was put on baby asprin at the begining of my preagnacy. I am now 33 weeks and have not had any issues with it I was told soon I will stop it for delevery.
My OB never said that the baby aspirin I took daily in the 3rd trimester was an issue, and i was on it up until 3 days before i delivered. i think the benefits outweigh the risks and the dose is so small, i trusted my OB, and i delivered a perfectly healthy baby almost a year ago.
I took 81mg of aspirin everyday starting at 3 months before conception until my rainbow's birth. She is now a happy & healthy 5 week old. The aspirin didn't cause her or me any problems at all & gave me a little peace of mind. :)
