Yes I had this problem even before the prednisone and the only thing that got rid of it was a very strict diet with no sugar and lots of probiotics. The doc's give us the Nyastin for the oral thrush, but by the time it is oral the candida has gone thru the whole digestive system. It took me a whole 6 weeks of the diet to get rid of the oral thrush (more accurately, overgrowth of candida, candidiasis) now it's back because of the prednisone. I will start the diet again after the holidays. Try googling candida cleanse and you should get some good diet info.

Oh man oral thrush is such a frustrating and painful side effect but I was given some advice that REALLY helped. If you go to CVS or order online ( I haven't seen it at any other pharmacy) there is a mouthwash for cancer patients whom often struggle with this problem too, it's called prevention. It's very gentle on the mouth, not harsh, tastes pretty good, very soothing, and doesn't numb your mouth. Most importantly was that after having cranker sores and thrush for about 2 months, it only took about 1 week to about 10 days for it to completely go away. Good Luck!!
