Oh I'm still on it alright! Still as huge as ever. Definitely crankier than crap. But ever so slowly I am decreasing...2 mg every two weeks. Ugh. How are you marcie?

Doing much better, off the evil stuff and praying hard to stay off of it! Have gained a few pounds, I'm one of those that won't gain weight on prednisone because it makes me so nervouse. I was down to 82 pounds, I think I may weigh about 105 now, wish me luck!

Holy Crap! My one leg weighs that much. hahaha Yep- It sucks, but I've gained 45lbs since starting 13 months ago. And I know darn well it ain't all from me eatting!

I have gained maybe 5 pounds in the 3 months I've been on it but my face is a frickin balloon and I have more chins than a chinese phone book. I'm down to 10 mg though from 50. BUT now my symptoms are starting to come back which is just frickin wonderful. BTW I suffer from ibd- ulcerative colitis and some pancreatitis issues.

I still have some of the moon face, just a little and I'm wondering if it will ever go away. I also take Asacol and that can cause the face to swell, other than that I can say that I'm doing much better other than the joint pain that comes from crohn's and I have UC to, so I have a double whammy.

Bless you Marcie I am glad you are getting better and gaining weight. i am so frustrated with my apperance. I used to weight 100-115 ontil 54-5 years ago when prednisone started. Im with PAPenguin my left leg now weights that much. I truely dont recognise myself. And I never had a large bust. Damn I dont know what to do with these things they are huge! Yucky..I liked being boobless!
Everything is the same here. 10 mgs and holding symptoms always come back at 10 mg.

I'm sorry that you are having problems, I am off the prednisone and pray that I can stay off. I was so thin and was in bad shape, so bad that the doctors told me that If I lost one more pound that I wouldn't make it. I didn't have enough meat on me to put the feeding line where it was suppose to have been, I had a new type that and I would have to dig out my papers from the hospital to say the name of it, but anyway I had to go to surgery to have it put in and when I woke up it was hurting very bad. They told me to please be very careful that it would not take much to tear the skin...I was so nervous, they stitched artificial skin over it to hold the line in. Being malnourished is no fun and very dangerous. I feel so much better with the weight that I have gained but need at least 10 more pounds. I hope and pray that you can get off the pred and all of you have my prayers. Please keep posting so that I can hear from everyone because I do care..hugs, Marcie

oh Marcie i just hope this is the turn around point for you, you've been suffering for such a long time it must be hard for you to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Being malnourished isn't fun and i know how dangerous it is, i was in the same position as you last year and had a feeding tube out in, i had to have it removed as it got infected but it was brilliant to know everything you need was going in without effort. Just take it easy and look after yourself. Isn't it great to be free of steroids?? lotsa luv Donna x

Hi I'm still on peds 10 mg till tomorrow than 5 mg for a week after this I should be off &hope of no return,both the flare up &preds.My belly has reach so big that my skin is tearing and my face with the rash well I don't even want to look in the mirror it is just painful to look at it.I'm so glad that my husband still wants to be around me,with my looks and attetude,lol gota love me I guess? aww brigit that really sucks about your side effects but lucky you have a husband who supports you no matter what! I'm lucky to have mine too, I was 30 pounds lighter when we started dating but he doesn't care. Ok question for everyone: have you had decreased sex drive while on pred?? Mine is like NIL. -Jolene

Yes that will happen, prednisone makes my body feel numb, it dulls the senses, at least for me it does. sorry and good luck.xxx

I'm tapering down 5mg every seven days. I am currently at 30mg, and generally once I hit 30, my symptoms start toact up again. Not that I would really notice; still in a flare for four months!! I just hope that I can continue to taper with no problems. I seriously feel as though my face can't possibly stretch anymore! It's so fat and so is my stomach and arms...I don't look ANYTHING like I did four months ago. I feel absolutely disgusting. I just wish these side effects wouldn't effect us all. They are horrible, and not only does it effect us physically, it impairs us mentally and emotionally too.

Hi, I'm new and am so grateful to have found this site. Finally people who understand!! I have been on prednisone about 4 years now. I am tapering it down again, this time from 13 mg. The goal is 5 mg. Every time I have tried tapering I can only get down to 10 mg. Anything below that I am miserable. I have UCTD, fibro, MPS, arthritis among other things, lol.

I also have gained a ton of weight, have stretch marks worse than both of my pregnancies and look like I'm 8 months pregnant. I have a hard time in restaurants sitting in booths. My face is round, I have bright red, hot cheeks, and the "hump" in my upper back. Lovely, huh? My rheumy says that I have Cushings Syndrome.

I also sweat like no other!!! It drives me crazy!! Here it is winter and I am hot and sweating!! Right now I am sitting under a ceiling fan with it on high, in my light cotton night shirt, with sweat pouring off of me. It is MISERABLE!! Do any of you suffer with this also? My docs attribute it to prednisone, although I am on a whole host of meds. What do you think?
