Premenstrual Stress Syndrome (PMS) is stress which is a physical symptom prior to the onset of menstruation. PMS is exceedingly common, occurring in 75% of women of reproductive age during their lifetime, characterized by symptoms of mood swings, depression, anxiety and irritability. It is often accompanied by physical symptoms such as bloating and cramping.

I have tried just about everything for my monthly PMS - which pretty much amounted to anxiety, lethargy, sleepless nights, worries, mild depression - all starting about 10 days prior to my period, and sometimes into my period. It has been my monthly battle for the last 2 years. It would all only subside around the last day of my period, and then I'd feel clear and balanced again.
I've also make sure my blood sugar levels are as stable during each month as much as possible (through diet). I had noticed that sugar can really kick off anxiety in me - particularly the closer to my period that I got. No matter what I did, I felt like I was still on a knife's edge. You know the drill. Now, things have gotten better since the starting point 2 years ago as I've been religious about my supplements, but some months can be better than others. It was still a lottery.
Last month was more than I could handle. I was way tooo anxious over the tiniest things. My supplements - omega 3, Vit C, high potency Vit B, magnesium/calcium and I would take chasteberry too from time to time didn't seem to be able to support me last month - or maybe they did support me in which case I don't even want to think how awful I would have felt without them. It has been costing me a small fortune but my health is more important.
After last month, I searched around again for some remedies, and came across earthclinic.com - people swearing up and down about ACV and blackstrap molasses. So, I immediately went to my health food store and picked up organic ACV and organic blackstrap molasses - all for a measly 3.50!
I am 7 days away from my period, and usually during this time I am beginning to feel anxious about any tiny little thing, my sleep starts fluctuating, moodiness sets in. The symptoms usually begin 10 days prior to my period, and worsen the closer I get to my period.
But now, I am actually feel warm, fuzzy, loving and cozy!!! I feel like bonding with my husband, and with friends. I can barely believe it! I absolutely LOVE the way I feel. I am patient, loving, and my sleep is rock solid stable. I have more energy and wake up bright and clear in my head - not the usual dragging myself out of bed. I can barely believe I am a week away from my period.
Other benefits are that I FEEL beautiful, my sugar cravings have all stopped, and I usually have a small chin breakout during my period which hasn't happened.
This last week, I decided to up the ACV to 2 tblsp twice a day - leading up to my period, just in case, and keeping the 1 tsp of organic blackstrap molasses in my morning decaf tea.
They say that menstruation duration also gets cut in half. We'll see about that when I get my period this time - and mine has been lasting about 7-9 days long! So, to get that down to 5-6 days, I'd be over the moon.
I wanted to share this with everyone here in case it will help anyone.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I can now report my period has arrived without a hint of PMS whatsoever. I am sooooo impressed. My energy levels are still stable and light, and I am clear-headed.
My husband is so impressed that he started on the combo too.
I highly recommend it.
About the blackstrap - I've recently started to add a 1/2 or 1/4 tsp of Cinnamon with the blackstrap in coffee cup of hot water - making it like a tea. If I don't have any powdered cinnamon on hand, I'll put a 1/3 of a stick of a cinnamon stick in there and let it brew with the blackstrap to give it the cinnamon taste. It is actually quite tasty that way, AND helps keep blood sugar stable. Also, once again, I think about the benefits.
Hope that helps. I won't live without those two things now. I got my period this month, and it was right on time PLUS it was only 5 days this time (as opposed to a linger 7-9 days). I was sooooooo happy. Also, my husband was so impressed with my ZERO mood swing this month, he started taking ACV himself. It's a relationship saver.
