It seems like the nightmares and flashbacks will not go away. Is that normal? I was told that I will never forget what "he" (don't like saying his name) did to me. Will I really live with it for the rest of my life? I want to tell someone who can do something about him but I'm ashamed of what I did and he made me feel like it's all my fault (which I now believe it was) and HATE myself. I have such low self esteem that anything nice someone says about me I don't believe them. What do I do? Someone help.

How can you say I'm not the pathetic one? How? I could've told him no. I could've stopped and reported him but I didn't. Aren't I the pathetic one? I don't think my parents will ever know what happened. I will get therapy soon but I'm nervous and afraid of what the counselor might say when I tell them. I realized that it's been almost a year since the guy took advantage of me like that. To me it seems like it just happened to me. Is that normal to feel that way?

Do you believe that if he had not coerced you , made you fear for those you care about...you would have done this on your own?

I don't think so. I also now at your age you weren't that savvy at abusers ways...he had already learned the skill. How he learned I don't really care, there are many ways. But he took you in and then coerced you into doing something working on your fear. Not Choice fear.
He is pathetic, start by putting the blame where it belongs.

People tell me that it's his fault not mine but I have it engraved into my head that it was my fault and I could've stopped him. Girls are viewed by others as weak and I'm a perfect example of that.

They people telling you that have not walked in your shoes. We "here" on DSPTSD, are here because of the shoes we walked in. A different, but experienced pair.
