Weird coincidence during job crisis
mujicaptsd
Weird coincidence. I went to the movies and saw the film "Gravity" just now. To get my mind off the current brouhaha at work at the college with my job in jeopardy due to a drop in enrollment as a new system for distance learning has gone bad.
Students are dropping classes and classes are getting canceled. My contract calls for me to teach 15 college credits per semester and I was going to teach extra for job security, 16 credits. Now that a class has been closed due to low enrollment, I'm teaching 14 credits this semester instead of 15. I'm underwater in my contract and therefore vulnerable to be laid off as our general college enrollment has dropped 17% this semester.
The ultimate decider of my job's fate will be my top boss, the college president.
So who do I run into at the movies trying to get away from thinking about job problems? The college president, my top boss at work where we've all been having so much trouble this week. She was going in to see the same film.
1. She was really nice. Said hello.
2. Then we come out, see each other again. Said hello a 2nd time.
Then I walk to my car way at the far end of the crowded parking lot. Someone follows me the whole way. I turn around. She's behind me. The college prez, my top boss. Unbeknownst to either of us, she had parked exactly by my car in the parking lot.
3. So I say hello a 3rd time.
Wha-? Can't say I'm not on her radar....
In my 2 years of living here, I've never run into her, my top boss, once outside work. Tonight,, at the end of the week of troubles at work, I run into her 3 times? And on a night I went to a movie meant to take me to outer space to distract me from my earthly job woes.
Oh, well. Thought I was going to outer space in a movie with George Clooney and Sandra Bullock. Instead, I entered the Twilight Zone....

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

First, I hope everyone is doing well, and continuing to fight that good fight! Keep up the great work on yourselves; I'm rooting for all of you!So, I started doing therapy at the beginning of the year, when I was in my most depressed state, but with my therapist, I made big changes and steps in the right direction. But, over a month ago, she couldn't take my insurance anymore, and I had to stop...
How did you like the movie?
do-Di.do do. Do di do do, wo-o-OO-eee.
"Madame President: I have always appreciated you, and the opportunity to work at this college. If, by any chance, I haven't made that clear enough ... I thought I'd detail your car for you !"
;-)
I did wonder if thered be an appropriate way to bring up my job worries from our meetings earlier in the week at the college. But I could think of no way that wouldnt just be that desperate, so I kept my counsel and a little dignity. Im not a gifted suck up.
I agree, arfie, she was probably there to escape just like I was, so sucking up and mentioning work would probably have cut against the grain instead.
As to how I liked the movie, I wrote on the other thread: "As artfully done as it was, as much as I like Clooney and Bullock, it didnt leave me walking out of the theatre giving it a grade of A. I cant put my finger on it, but there was still a nagging so what? lingering with me at the end. Maybe the penny will drop later for me." I mentioned I like Cuarons directing in his previous movies a lot, following him as a Latin American film fan.
In the end, it was all as arfie said:
"do-Di.do do. Do di do do, wo-o-OO-eee" and eeeee and eeee....
Yeah I fenced too, It may be why I love my machete'
Conversation
The back-and-forth play of the blades in a fencing bout, composed of phrases (phrases d'armes) punctuated by gaps of no blade action.
Pass
An attack that passes the target without hitting.
Recovery
A return to en garde stance from any other position, generally by pulling backwards into en garde. Recovery from a lunge occurs by reversing the motions in a lunge, and recovering the extended arm last of all. A forward recovery involves moving the rear foot forward to return to en garde. For a center recovery, both feet move towards the center simultaneously.
Meanwhile, today I sent out a job application just in case I need an employment parachute.
Fingers crossed I dont.
