Been enjoying the cheap stove and fridge. I do miss baking when I am on the road. Hence the odds and ends for the kitchen. It is still AC weather here in the river confluence region, so I am not sure about the heat source, but typically, if the AC works, the heater does, as well.

It sounds like this is an ideal space -- I think what you are alluding to is that in the emptiness there is opportunity to restart again in clarity.

it sounds just right, but maybe you will feel like going to a yard sale or two over the week end? do you like to go to those sometimes? maybe pick up a table or another chair. i found my favourite chair, ten yrs ago or more now, and it is was 4 dollars! it's an antique wood tall chair, but that's not the reason i like it so much. i like that i can perch on it just right. it turned out to be one of my best sitting spots.

Good thing I didn't do the shopping run this morning. The Tower Garden arrived, though I wasn't expecting it until next week. It is currently spread across the empty living room floor, looking like a fractured science project. Some assembly required. . .

Yay for not having the floor tied up with wants to sort. Work project settled for a bit. I am a painter so the first real work was to get colors in place for my space. Of course I want to change some now, but I have changed. But moving the needs of furniture and accumulated wants is a hindrance.

Stuff and such are a challenge. Family stuff, new stuff, old stuff, stuff that works and stuff that is broken.

Oh how I'd like to start again with 'empty' and just the necessities for everyday living. Letting go of 'stuff' is an on going process I've dabbled in over the last 6 months or so, feeling the need to scale down and reduce 'clutter' which when 'really cluttered' boggles my mind...seeing as how my mind is challenged anyway, clutter just adds to my confusion.

I've tried to teach John about want vs. need as he has a hole burning in his pocket as soon as money is there...immediate gratification. Still a work in progress....My Grammy Molly gave me some good advice about 'stuff' wanting vs. needing...any large purchase sleep on it over night before deciding. As far as stuff for the house, you, and everything else in between...Grammy said "one in the draw, one in the wash and one on....My Dear Aunt Mari said throw something away every day... I too dislike stores, (I've no clue how some people can make a day of shopping) I make a list and get the heck out as fast as I can....look at sale flyers on line, make my list out the door! Enjoy!!!

I am with patti. Toilet paper, coffee and smokes for me! Maybe some chocolates or crepes for breakfast . Oh yes, cannot forget the computer.

I have such a hard time shopping if places are busy. I get very irritated. Shopping online is how I do most things when I can. If there is a cool market with not a ton of people I am in. Street side is good too. Your plant tower sounds awesome. I saw something on tv I really liked if I had the right lighting for it. I think they call it a stable pocket or something? Or V plant?

If you want a great place to order things Overstock.com, worldmarket.com, or hayneedle. I also like going to the local Habitat for Humanity store. Goodness, they have everything. I mean everything. Building supplies, awesome used furniture in excellent shape, cabinets, appliances - the list goes on. Welcome home Arfie.

i love the habitat for humanity store - it was my fave store when i arrived home. i got paint there, all i needed came from there for so little money i could not believe it : ) actually, most of the paint was free and unopened - behr paint. you get a better quality product but for cheap or free.

right now, my 'new' front door is from there - 30.00 and it would have cost at least 1500.00 - pre shipping/pre finishing. it is gorgeous - double paned bevelled glass/heavy, old...aged i mean, oak frame. can't tell i enjoy this door much can you : ) no drafts either - fits so well, but that was the installation. what a relief.

even ceiling fans from there - brand new, clients changed their minds on colour/easier for contractor to donate and deduct from taxes-we score!!!

i hope you have one near you, Arfie. i'm most glad for you to be working on your vertical garden project right away.
