I normally have flashbacks of abuse that took place starting when I was around 5/6 and going up. But now I am beginning to have what seems like flashbacks where I am REALLY young...like 1 or 2 and my father is sexually abusing me. I can sort of see our house at the time and I can see what's going on, but that's it....but there's also this lingering feeling of intense anxiety and fear like I know what happened but I'm not admitting it to myself.
Has this happened to anyone else? I have no idea if this really happened or if my brain playing tricks...
I know something weird happened one time though, (this won't really apply if you haven't seen Magnolia) but I asked my father is he had seen Magnolia and I KNEW he did and he simply kept denying it...and all I could think of was that part where the painting said, "He did it"...
It's just ...really confusing..

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
As you do memory work and trauma based therapies, the memories will flood you and your emotions. Anxiety can be really, really bad...but, if you have a person to tell your emotions...and show your pain...you'll recover with time.
One size does not fit all. You may not find the correct one first try but you will if you keep at it.
I would guess that Paws and 51% would say that healing is a journey that takes investment in time and emotions.. It can be trying and scary facing your demons.
It is so worth the effort I can share with you. I have a freedom or an ease with my life now.
Being able to sit peacefully without fear or anxiety or panic and enjoy a spot in nature is incredible. Small things like that are what sticks out now for me. The simplest things in nature are so complex and perfect. I guess all those clouds of doubt and fear were delusions after all.
I haven't had an original thought in my head in years!!!!
Distress can trigger painful memories.
Whether or not you present with accurate memories, if you are in distress...that's accurate enough...and you need compassion.
"I haven't had an original thought in my head in years!!!! "
A self deprecating style, I say that in all reverence and praise like you have goes farther than neutral almost a minus.
Your training and attitude disarms and relaxes your clients. You show your empathy and involvement in wanting to help. Most therapists are taught to keep a distance. I think this is good advice to an extent but we patients desire a partner to help us not a computerized emotionless body. We want the therapist to want healing as much as ourselves and not times up get the heck out of here.
Paws therapists like you have walked the walk and have a desire to heal not make money and be successful as the core accomplishments.
I would urge all to evaluate your therapist. Most of the time we do not know what to expect from therapy. If you inform yourself you can see sometimes that all kinds of therapies and help is available.
