Trauma anniversary-gratitude
Hey, y'all: tomorrow is the 50th anniversary of when as a missionary kid in a war zone overseas I got tortured by a military dictatorship's "death squad." It was the first year of the dictatorship's "12 year night," as the Netflix movie title puts it. The squad mistook me for a union protester and tortured me like one until a passing US citizen hollered out that he recognized me as a US citizen, too. The squad stopped immediately and let me go. Every year I am thankful for that passing fellow citizen who had the guts to holler out to save me.
The other blessing I am always deeply grateful for is that before that the pistol of the officer in charge jammed twice when he put it to my head. Every year I'm so thankful that I feel like Ryan at the end of the Tom Hanks movie Saving Private Ryan in which Ryan at an old age like mine remembers when survived a close brush with death and makes sure he's earned the wonder of being a survivor. It's a marvelous thing, it really is. I'm so glad to be here with y'all, I really am grateful.

My friend invited me out for lunch at this nice, clean sit-in place, where I got to order a salad of my choice with two chicken toppings out of a wall-mounted variety. It had been a while since we just...

Jay's podcasts are really good. I watch them on YouTube for free. Today, I watched his video about motivation. In fact, I've been watching a few videos on this subject. Jay gave us an assignment to complete the following sentence: I am stuck because? I don't describe myself as stuck, but to finish the sentence, I would say that I am stuck because I am tired. When I have energy, I do...

And then sometimes in Mujicaptsd own words his miracles became wanted jammed moments to look back and give thanks for with gratitude.
Take it easy Mujicaptsd, you've survived the worst, long live the King in You!
just wondering. . .

Thankful for you amigo
Some of our anniversary trauma stuff happens to be around the same time I noticed.
I can totally relate to being tortured & also someone intending to & thinking you’re about to get killed & by the grace of God getting away … plus everything else that goes with all that mentally, emotionally, physically ect.
(Hope that made any sense … I’m not so good with my words today but you have my support for sure)
Sending support, friendship & many prayers
Gentle hug <3
