Tired of doing double overtime w PTSD?
mujicaptsd
Nothing new, just know I'm not the only one. Seems to me a big part of living with PTSD is being tired. Being functional while the brain's fueling flashbacks and a myriad of other symptoms means we put out twice the effort just to have a regular day.
Heck, suicidal thoughts for me haven't involved so much the violent self hatred some report. I do understand what they say they feel and feel empathy for sure.
Instead, though, just speaking for me, often suicidal thoughts inside my mind are simply about being drained. That feeling that taking care of everyday life and PTSD's distractions all day every day is just not sustainable. I feel I can't keep putting out energy at that level. Just needing a break from doing double overtime constantly. A big break, obviously.
I'm not feeling suicidal tonight, just recognizing that tired feeling and where it's coming from, and getting it out.
Anybody else?
Any thoughts on restoring ourselves this time?

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

First, I hope everyone is doing well, and continuing to fight that good fight! Keep up the great work on yourselves; I'm rooting for all of you!So, I started doing therapy at the beginning of the year, when I was in my most depressed state, but with my therapist, I made big changes and steps in the right direction. But, over a month ago, she couldn't take my insurance anymore, and I had to stop...
When I start feeling that drained, I get up, get dressed, makeup, and earrings, then I run a hot bath, I put some lavender or mint in it, take off everything I had just put on (sounds odd right?) then soak for a good 30 min or so, then get out and put everything back on. I am not sure why I get dressed first honestly, but I do... Im nutty like that :)
Other times I try to curl up on the couch with my cat. My big fact Dunken, he always knows when I am down, and he also knows that parking his 30lb body on my leg and kneading it (yep claws into my flesh) cheers me up for some reason, listening to his broken up purr, hes my sweet fatman :)
Anything that helps.
Yeah muji I get it. but for me self harm is the option to manslaughter on days like this. I don't think I have been this bad in months. But here is here and that helps so much when the water is high and cold, I know hypothermia is not the worst way to go. I know that some here that understand me , well there are more here than in the family and friends in reach physically.
PTSD is a full-time job.
My physio recovery is a part-time job.
I work part-time from home over the internet.
My being the cook and housekeeper around here is a job.
Just feels like it's all job and no vacay sometimes, y'know?
A good shower, or standing in rain, or just soaking something like feet seems to help me relax but I would love something like 10 straight days where I don't have PTSD or something....
And while I'm dreaming, a Maserati wouldn't be bad, either!
I fantasized how I just want to be on the couch and sleep all day tomorrow. I wish for a rainy day and drift in and out of consciousness while watching movies.
I can't do that because I have a 22 month old son.
I'd try to focus on the fact that you CAN if you like! : D
Whatever the cracks in your system, double over-time will find and exacerbate every one of them. So does the opposite extreme. When I continue to have too much time on my hands after my body is well rested, my inner demons start getting real and creatively active.
Sigh. Where is my Utopia? Dystopia seems to be all that is available.
Keep stepping, Muji. You can do this.
