we grounded my son from the computer, but we've been watching Lemony Snicket. It's funny, but the criminal antics of Count Olaf and his theater troupe reminded me of my family. I started to see the criminal tendencies. I felt sorry for my mother when she wasn't allowed back at a grocery store for bouncing checks too many times; it never occurred to me that the store was the victim. She always harped on "rejection" as the problem; the other person just didn't like her and it was always their fault. It's never my brother's fault when he had 10 children and gets put in jail for back child support; hoarding isn't anybody's "fault" either. I still love my family, but what a "theater troupe" they can be!

I'm alive, I'm sleeping like a rock, and for some reason I wanted cherry juice so that seems to be helping. (??? Weirdo that I am.)***Infamous therapies over history:1. The Attic. The madwoman in the attic is a motif in literature going waaaaaay back: the nutty female relative is locked in the attic. (See: Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte for a grotesquely racist version of it, and Charlotte Perkins...

Hey all, i know its been quite awhile since i posted on here. Its been a summer all right. Its been something else........... You know how they say not to open the can of worms? Well a few months ago i decided to find out what my due date would have been for my first baby, the one conceived by r***. My baby would have been due on March 4th of 2006. They would be 20 years old. I was R**** on June...

I wear striped pajamas to remind me of my roots.
On the rest...My dad was never the one to "blame". But boy oh boy, the rest of us sure were.
BTW, don't worry about criminal tendencies. Bona fide blood related to two known murderers, don't even get me started on the drugs, ugh! You're not your DNA. Just hold onto that. You can be more than your DNA and your upbringing. They're always with you, bu tthey're not *all* of you.
And I don't go near my dad's family, haven't on purpose for 20 years-plus. THey only track me down if they want me to appear in court on their behalf. Nuff said.
YOur mother saw herself as the victim, so you saw that for your mother too. That tells me that you were a normal healthy kid...in an unhealthy environment.
Looking at my own kids...I'm often really really amazed at how much they copy me. In small and big things. Parental power is mindshatteringly big. Not in getting them to pick up their socks...but in influencing how they'll see the world.
A "theater troupe" indeed. Unfortunately, the show overshadowed the reality. Eventually, my dad would have a big church of his own, there would be a scandal regarding church business, and he would be kicked out in disgrace. However, as you mention about your mom's bounced checks and the store banning her, my parents saw themselves as the victims and not the church. Denial is not just a river in Egypt, huh?
Thanks for reflecting on this. ds.
