Yes my memory is appalling. Short term memory loss such as forgetting parts of conversations or what you were doing or going to do are a very common symptom of PTSD.
I went thru a similar stage of thinking I was schizophrenic to the point I had to be assessed by a psychiatrist and told that i wasn't.
It is important to note that memory loss associated with PTSD is not only limited to blocking off past traumatic experiences, but can also affect short term memory or the ability of the brain to store and recall new memories.

1. we use so much focus to hold ourselves together... that lessens our focus elsewhere
2. PTSD can literally affect the brain, and when it does it often affects the speech/language center
3. when we're sleep deprived from insomnia the brain just doesn't work the way we want it to.
I could go on, but these are just some reasons you should feel very NORMAL! lol
It happens to everyone, you just notice it more since you are aware something is happening that makes you uncomfortable.
Your voice can be overwhelmed when you are processing outside information at the same time as you are speaking.
Take a deep breath.
Pause to catch your conversation where it stopped. If not, just say, can't remember where I stopped at, and that should get you going again.
Take time to write down what, who, when, where this happens, and it may help you find the root of your stop sign signal.
Hope this helps.
No, you are not losing it.
You may just be stressed or overloaded...shrug it off and give yourself a much needed break. If you start talking in "word salad" then i'd question being skitzo!
You are probably just tired or overwhelmed! Hugs
And, p.s. it feels pretty freaky, so I totally understand why it would upset you.
Mine gets worse when I'm tired or anxious. Hope that helps :)
So I've had some serious damage done to me and I've done some serious damage to myself.
I also forget where I was in a sentence or what I was even talking about. I take it as a matter of pride because I am well spoken and had a long and successful career as a Public Relations Manager where verbal communications were a fundamental skill.
But I also take high octane medication for all those conditions so I'm sure that affects my cognitive abilities. I'm very hard on myself about it though - I hate it when I stumble with my words or lost my place. And I think you are hard on yourself too, so we need to let up a bit too.
And no it absolutely does not mean you have schizophrenia .
I literally forget what i just did a few mins ago.
Is my short term memory mostly affected.
