Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Support Group
Find support with others who have gone through a traumatic experience. Whether you have chronic or acute PTSD, we are here for you.

I have an appt to see my TDoc in just about an hour. Last time we touched a little on the PTSD events but this time it will be only about PTSD events (combat-related). This will cause me to cry and I NEVER cry in front of others. I feel that I am losing control when I get emotional enough to cry. I also wanted to mention that the drugs that I am on make me more emotional and I find myself quietly and discretely choking back tears from things on the TV. She is going to force me. I dread what will happen once the damn breaks on the tears and I have a lot stored up from the PTSD experiences. Am I going to rant and rave and break things? I am dreading this. And to top it off she wants to come back to these experiences often to "desensitize" me. I wish I could run away from these memories just deny their existence and deny the hold they have over me.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

I do not want to think about theses PTSD experiences. Those are locked in a tight box and I don’t want it to start to slither out.
Tears can be really cathartic though.... Letting go what you've been holding onto so tightly is what is going to help you to heal
Gentle hug while you work it out.....xo
I've written here that it took me 12 years of weekly therapy to start talking about the real trauma I had stuffed down deep inside. I talk here every chance I get about the car bombing I survived at the war's outset when I was 9. My therapist told me "repetition brings mastery" so I repeat myself here now all I can.
But talking about it the first time took 12 years. Week after week I passed on opening up to my therapist. Then I'd write that copay check and do it again next week. Obviously, I wanted to talk but I was scared it would kill me if I ever did, there was so much bottled up there.
You're ahead of me, Thor, so give yourself lots of credit. Open up at your own pace, though, therapists can wait. They waited 12 years for me. Be gentle and patient with yourself, learning to cry is hard for guys like us.
Sending support & a hug <3
