FEELING FRAGILE


Today 11-1-21 I'm having my lowest day since Sat 7-17-21 with my other chronic illness and my PTSD.  The other chronic illness I have is CKD (Chronic Kidney Disease).  Having only 50% kidney function to bring oxygen to my blood, it gets tough living at 7,000 feet of altitude in my beloved new mountain Mexican town of San Cristobal.  I'm worn out physically today, just barely shuffling along on my cane, and I've got a lot of geezer aches and pains going on along with PTSD flashbacks.  


I got CKD from a bad shrink's overprescribing me Seroquel for PTSD nightmares from surviving a car bombing abroad when I was a 9 year old missionary kid, so it triggers my PTSD, too. 


TRIGGER WARNING


I see the bomb thrower's face every night, he was that close and his aim was good.  I should be dead, so I'm really grateful my father got the blue gasoline flames put out when they engulfed our car before they got to our car's own gas tank and blew us up again from below. So now I'm on Prazosin for my PTSD nightmares.  Since it's liver-processed it's kidney safe.


It's great that I've gone from July to November being so active before another episode like this one.  But when preparing my morning coffee today I felt so weak just standing that I had to sit down so as not to fall down.  Support welcome, then.  The July episodes lasted a week. Thanks.

Triple hugs of support muji. One of the tools I used often to get through PTSD weeks was something an old therapist from my younger attempts to get well taught me. She used to say that everyone we meet is a lesson or a blessing. Then she used to say imagine that all the people that return continually in my flashbacks were unsettled spirits and these were hauntings to remind me to thank them for either the blessing or the lesson. She would tell me to remind myself often that experiences didn’t get labelled good or bad, just as experiences. It was a twist on the old daily gratuity or gratuity list tool. So on weeks when I would flash, I would try to give thank yous to them for lessons or blessings, well mostly lessons and then tell them it was okay for them to go home now. It never cured everything but it did help and quite a lot. Removed some fear and anxiety and gave me purpose which made me feel less like I had no control. Anywho, just offering it up in case it can help. Here with you friend. Maybe playing some good music to relax you too!

Off Topic
In my flirtations with sound engineering, a single sound check was seldom enough to calibrate the system. The second test was, "4, 5, 6. . ." The third was "7, 8, 9. . ." If 3 sound checks proved to be enough, we could get punny that "7 ate 9. . ." Perhaps your current sound check there in San Cristóbal is at the infamous question of, "Will 7 eat 9?"

Or am I lost in metaphor again?

I'm in a bad pain spot, so I just remind myself constantly: It goes away. It did before, it will again, and it'll be better in a few days. Rest, tend yourself gently, okay? Hugs... And just remember two puma shoulders are ready if needed.

Thanks, y'all, it does go away. Yesterday was hell but today is lots better, and I was buckled up to ride this out for a week like last time. Your support really helps get me through these episodes.

Thanks, Rizen, it means a lot to hear that coming from you, especially. If not for the Walk A Day thread you started years ago here on DS PTSD I wouldn't manage to keep up the walks. Thanks for that, and for keeping up with me posting there still.

    Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.
