I've been struggling with a respiratory infection for 2 weeks now. I am half way through my antibiotics for it and have been good about staying cooped up to let them work for me.
Starting tomorrow I have to get out and about for the next four days, though. Tomorrow it's my college's end of semester meeting, one of those meetings that's becoming harder for us faculty and staff to take lately. Enrollment is in crisis but we've got administrators giving themselves big raises while ignoring the problem as we approach losing half of our student body in six years. Classes are being canceled last minute, programs cut, people are stressed out.
A coworker from the college called me this afternoon dreading tomorrow's meeting because of it. We got the meeting agenda. Two of the administrators will be using the meeting to give each other awards tomorrow instead of addressing our crisis. It will be a little much to take.
Friday I have commencement at my community college with those same administrators, then on Sunday I'm scheduled to speak at a church. Hope my laryngitis is better by then.
I've been fighting this respiratory infection for a long time now. Just 4 more days and my Christmas holidays begin, so I thought I'd ask for 4 days of support to get to them, if you wouldn't mind.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

Now I've got to weigh whether to show up sick and feverish to that all college meeting. My young boss sent our HR disability officer after me whenever I took sick days 7 years ago and I haven't dared since, but today might be the day I take one.
Argh.
Who will she send this time if I do?
If you do go, go up to your boss and breathe all over her. Sorry to be spiteful but she sure deserves it if she is too dumb to realize you are putting others at risk when you go to work sick and contagious.

I'd find it easier to deal with people like that if I believed in Karma...but I don't. Seems like that's the way too too much of the world is anymore.
If I were you I'd get right back into see the doc.... This has been going on too long and it shouldn't be getting worse
