I miss you guys.
I have been peeking in on occasion. I found myself getting triggered quite a bit so I backed off. I have been working hard on healing...well more like ripping the old bandages off and cleaning the wound. I am going to therapy sessions almost weekly now.
Lots of work stress and I am trying to move to a smaller place.
I ordered Marsha Linehan's DBT workbook. I should have it in my paws by the end of the week. Tdoc had suggested a DBT group but I can't afford it right now. I'm hoping I can get something out of the book without going to a group.
I'm working hard on being kind and patient with myself.
I was sitting in a line of traffic yesterday and saw a child of about 9 walking with her mom. She was carrying a doll with hot pink hair. She was talking and I could see her mom had a slight smile on her face. They walked with such comfort and ease together. The girl was so relaxed. I felt sad. Sad that I never felt that at ease. I never felt that safety and security as a child. This child I was watching believed the world was a good place and if something bad tried to hurt her, her parents would protect her. I'm glad she doesn't know how lucky she is.
I started to panic because I felt sad and it brought back feelings of fear. Then I calmed myself. I told myself that it was ok to feel sad. It IS sad that I didn't know safety and security growing up and it is ok for me to feel sad about that. I don't need to be afraid now.
Anyway...I miss you guys and hope everyone is well.

You all always have such helpful tips and advice, but I always forget to write on my posts when I see you post, lol. I would lose my head if it wasn't attached to my body, lol. Thank you all so much! I'm starting to use my AI app as a sounding board again. I used to use it as that before...

They would be 20 years old. I was R**** on June...

Yes, Cecil, it is very sad you did not know that kind of security growing up. Letting yourself be aware of the sadness and letting yourself feel that sadness can lead to healing.
Be gentle pulling those bandages off.
Seeing children was a huge trigger for me too. I would look at them and wonder "are they being abused?" "Are they safe?" "Are they being tortured like I was tortured?" I wanted my super power to be that I could tell if a child was being abused and then I could rush in and save them. But, that wasn't going to happen so, like you, I had panic and anxiety and would often stop somewhere and sob.
Yes Cecil, it is ok to feel sad that your childhood was without safety and security and was filled with pain. That is very sad indeed.
xx
Good luck with your plans to move!
Muji...it is so good to see you :-) I was concerned because during my "peeks" in, I hadn't seen your name. Glad you are here:-)
