I am still tweaking on lights in general, the twin halogens of my uphill neighbor in particular. The flashbacks seem connected to a child pornography set. I can never see myself clearly when I am having flashbacks, but I think I am holding my own. I pray. I haven't shot any ice water at the hot bulbs yet...
This morning I am a bit worried about psychosis. A limb from the tree over my tool shed seems to have dropped just enough to block the view between my patio door and the halogen demon eyes.
Small steps. Just breathe.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

First, I hope everyone is doing well, and continuing to fight that good fight! Keep up the great work on yourselves; I'm rooting for all of you!So, I started doing therapy at the beginning of the year, when I was in my most depressed state, but with my therapist, I made big changes and steps in the right direction. But, over a month ago, she couldn't take my insurance anymore, and I had to stop...
hugs...Its helping in how you put it...To be aware that when we have PTSD we take something and run with it...like we're gonna write a crime/horror story....
As confusing and painful as it is, I have become convinced it is nature's healing process. Sometimes it has to hurt worse for a while on the road to healing.
Or so I pray...
I'm sorry you are in this place and hope for you to get some relief soon.
My lightmares are definitely connected to artificial light. The sun, even viewed through the thin atmosphere of Andean altitude or the relentless burn of a desert, does not effect me this way. More and more I believe they are repressed memories attempting to heal. I can never know for certain, but I believe the first set were of a childish habit of hiding in small, dark places. Blinding light meant daddy or one of his agents had found me. Pain in progress.
This set... The blinding demon eyes... Is still emerging. Again, I will never know, but my adult awareness is conjecturing stage lights. For sure I never played Carnegie Hall. Child pornography is consistent with the world I was born in.
Thanks for caring, guayaba. Yes, we have discussed it before, but my own PTSD is a disgustingly repetitive affair. I am deeply grateful to any and all willing to ride the un-merry-go-round with me.
I think you're right, sometimes this stuff does drag itself out because we have achieved some level of increased ability to work with it. Dreams are very much that way with me. My nightmarish stuff tends to happen after my mind has had a chance to work with it a while (often years).
Either way, even if it does bring you to a better place eventually, where you have to go to get there hurts. I get tempted to wall it all back up; you are probably smart to work with it here.
Are you saying (that for yourself) you are an advocate of Exposure Therapy to habituate to, i.e. become desensitized to triggers?
Some people are strong enough for that. It is useful for some people. (Personally I have to just do cognitive stuff in my own wimpiness,)
If you want to use exposure to light to heal, what about a minor experiment?
Perhaps take a lamp that can handle a high voltage bulb and attach a rheostat onto the cord, and remove the lamp shade. You could then use a timer and start out with it on next to you at fairly low level, for fairly brief time and slowly up the brightness and length of exposure.
Having complete control over the light exposure might be a key, and might separate the light itself from the helplessness the light represented for you as a child.
Just a thought.
For me, I get plenty of exposure therapy just looking out my window at night, though there is the control aspect. My current technique of using thicker blinds is nearer to agoraphobia than control.
This particular trigger has hounded me my entire adult life. Please, God, reveal the truth behind the demon eyes so I can, at last, lay it to rest. Thy will be done.
