I shared this is a couple of hugs and private messages. I went to an Emmylou Harris concert last night. It was hard to get there, I was in physical pain. Then with my PTSD it was hard to sit between a couple on my left who weren't getting along, and a fan on my right who was boozing through the whole show. But I made the effort and concentrated on learning something from Emmylou.
Sure enough, I did. Emmylou Harris was amazing. Kris Kristofferson sang with her, Lucinda Williams, Alison Krause, Steve Earle, all kinds of greats. I heard the song "Orphan Girl" and really sat up in recognition of my own self. Of course, I am not an orphan physically any more than Harris is, but I am in every other way. So I really related to the lyrics and thought of us at DS PTSD:
"I am an orphan on God's highway
But I'll share my troubles if you go my way
I have no mother, no father
No sister, no brother"
