i need one so badly
there was a fire on the hills and mountains just above where i live a little bit and for some reason our power went out - all over the place around here for 3 of the most hot hours of the day.
they came at that from every direction - just slammed it, with tractors and so many helicopters w/water buckets - it was awesome how they worked that fire.
with the east winds they knew they'd better get it out before sundown - we get sundowner winds that blow hard down the canyons at sundown and w/the already winds it would be just a momma of a wind effect on that fire. i cannot believe how hard they came down on it though. there was so much fuel for the fire to begin with. the brush grew like crazy from all the rain and then dried right out with so many east winds we've had.
i can smell it.
nice to be on the ship : )
What will we do today on ship?
Maybe lets plan a party of costumes and goodies. If I could be any hero or heroine who would I be? Right now my thoughts are in the realm of Katniss Everdeen with a Nlack widow influx.

i am away from any hill - far away. it would take quite a lot for a fire to reach me.
not on a cliff over the ocean or on a slidy hill. not on mountain where there is dry fire fuel.
that happened one time when a kid - the fire came almost to the house - we had the horses out-they led them out and down the hill from out the windows of the car with the ducks and the chickens in the back seats WITH the cats!!! ^^
took them to my fifi's and in her back yard with the swimmin pool - ducks swimming in her pool - lol :O) i thought that was so great. nobody else did :( well, the ducks did.
the wind changed and it back burned adn put itself out. the wind can be a friend sometimes. no houses got burned at all that time.
i'm so sorry.
i wanted to let you know right away that there was no close danger.
there must have been farmers right there too. people with heavy equipment were SO on that. i can't even believe how fast they were on that.
the amount of helicopter action was... unbelievable too. when they LEFT? it was so loud over my house with helicopter sound - i don't even know how many there must have been.
i have to be ahead of these things
Sorry about the fires Lilly, I am glad they got them under control. It really was devastating. I saw it in the papers and it was horrific.
Its very cold here, finally! I love the cold weather but I crave cuddling. Sigh.. Keeping the new 'friend' at a bit of a distance! Ha! I guess I will put on my super soft, fuzzy-fluffy fleece robe and sit next to the fire. I have the door cracked so I can feel a slightly cold breeze. Doggy cuddles work just right!
I heated up some apple cider and set out some fire roasted nuts!
