I had a great dream that my suicide prevention case from 1988, KW, celebrated being alive now, in 2014. He lives on the West Coast now (I live in the East), and emailed me a couple of times recently.
Nice. It was a happy dream, and I woke up smiling. Happy for his life saved, and mine, too, after all, which is something nobody can celebrate enough. Especially since my career and life have turned out to be so small since then, a community college teacher in a small town. No big church like I once had, no big university like I once had like when I was KW's teacher, not married like I was when I met KW back then, thanks to a couple of hospital PTSD interruptions in my life. But so quietly rich now nonetheless.
It was a timely dream. After I got up this morning, I found am email from a current student of mine at the community college, BW, inviting me to lunch to let me know he's doing well. He just came out of a bout of depression and I had the chance to support him through it, so it's really good to get to celebrate it. Just like with K. It all helps me go on believing we help others, and it helps me, too, when I myself have my own down moments.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

First, I hope everyone is doing well, and continuing to fight that good fight! Keep up the great work on yourselves; I'm rooting for all of you!So, I started doing therapy at the beginning of the year, when I was in my most depressed state, but with my therapist, I made big changes and steps in the right direction. But, over a month ago, she couldn't take my insurance anymore, and I had to stop...

How 'bout we celebrate with some Alan Jackson?
"It's alright to be itty bitty
"An itty bitty town or a great big city
"Might as well share
"Might as well smile
"We only get to be here for an itty bitty while."

I love that "quietly rich". Beautifully perceptive.
It was great to have that dream as the payoff to ending that 2 week triggered period of insomnia, triggering ended because I asked for an got DS PTSD support here. So it's a shared dream because it was brought about by shared support from here in the first place.
