We have 5 to 6 foot pine snakes here they love to lay against the barns and in our rhubarb patch. Matt ended up running two over this summer while cutting with the riding mower. Also had to kill one that was in the dog pen they dont typically attack but if moms little dog well all are little but one is onlty 8 pounds and has little dog syndrome, if she went after it the snake could kill her. i hte snakes and worms too much like snakes........... thats country life

How scary muji about seeing the snake. AngelJo: my mom do not like worms either. Even when she is riding on her scooter, she won't run it over because she thinks that if she runs it over, it will come back alive, ride up the scooter and bite her.

Yikes! I don't mind a black rat snake but... We've got venomous ones here, as you do there, and it's no fun!

tree hugger alert! ! ! i'm putting on my shining armor and hopping upon my trusty donkey odie to go where the brave dare not go. of course i love snakes and it breaks my heart to see a dead snake whose meat has been wasted. rattlers have a lobster texture to them without the fishy aftertaste.

when i was about 8-ish, still pre-verbal, my 2 older brothers attempted to frighten me with a garter snake. they took my attempts to tell them they were scaring the snake as the girlie shrieks they were after. that night, when they pulled back their covers they found their beds occupied by every manner of creepy crawler i could enlist for my vengeance. no, the garter snake they attempted to frighten me with was not among the enlistees. that poor baby was still in the infirmary.

If I got out of bed and saw a snake in my hallway you could hear me in Mexico!!

In the middle of the night is the worst!!! In the last apartment i stayed in there 2 scorpions i almost syepped on in the dead of night. Fortunately i leave lights on at night. But it takes a while to get the heart rate down thats 4 sure ;)

Thanks, y'all, for the support sharing your snake stories, too. Yeah, SC & jptexas, it wasn't just encountering a snake in my living room, it was encountering a snake on the way to the john in the MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT! That indeed was a test of my heart's health. I'm happy to report that my heart passed the test. It took a while to get back to sleep after that, though, as although my heart settled down my PTSD insomnia got revved up pretty good. Ha!
