I made it to the end of the semester's classes and went to the doctor to find out I'm sicker than I thought I was. Respiratory infection, the trifecta: sinusitis, laryngitis, bronchitis, the whole thing, headed toward walking pneumonia.
So I got antibiotics, steroids, a ton of medicine that knocked me out for the rest of the day yesterday and through the feverish night. My choice to live alone presents challenges at times like these, nursing myself by myself. I've got semester grades to turn in by Monday morning.
In the ups and downs of life I'd say I'm on the downs sick today. I'm glad I made it through the last week of classes but I'm regretting not getting to the doctor, too. I'd lost my voice in my last two classes. Could only do so much.
For six years I've participated in my community college's December graduation ceremony as the faculty member on stage who reads the names as students file by to receive their diplomas from the president. I enjoy that, but I don't know if I'll make it. I told my boss I was coming down sick last week but wasn't missing classes, but I haven't heard back from her. My distance learning aide did check in on me, bless him.
Riding the couch now loaded up with those steroids and antibiotics hoping for the ups and a pre-Christmas recovery before Christmas in Mexico.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
I hope you're feeling better soon.
I hope you feel better fast.
i'm so sorry.....i hope you feel better soon.
You drive yourself hard to maintain a very high standard of performance. I admire that. But I think this time it's important to give priority to your health. It's okay to miss the ceremony. It's okay to hand the grades in a day late. Please take good care of yourself, physically and emotionally.
Yea, nursing yourself sucks, but in some ways its easier. I'm the nurse in my family and when I get sick the best I usually get is willing hands awaiting instruction. Doing it yourself is easier than supervising.
Remember to stay hydrated drink plenty of fluids when on steroids & antibiotics. Hope you feel better soon.
(((((Healing hugs)))))))
I am also sending you good thoughts, prayers or whatever you need for a quick recovery.
Nursing myself alone's a lot easier with good wishes from friends here like you. I appreciate the thoughts and prayers and virtual turkey and chicken soup Get well, will.i.am. Get well, too, lilmissy.
Now it's time to take my antibiotics and steroid pills again. Thank you, one and all, truly. :-)
I'm not going to be dumb enough to venture out of the house today. I'm still on all of those antibiotics and other meds for this and I want to make sure they keep working until they've done their job. But overnight I felt so much better I could wake up and do those grades first thing this morning, and I got them done by noon.
Ok, so commencement is on the 15th. That's when I may or may not be well enough to be the diploma names reader at that graduation ceremony. If I'm not well enough, fine. But stay tuned.
Thanks for all of your support. It was tough to fall this ill living alone. It's great to have your support help me so much I can report I'm starting to be on the mend already.
Time to take another round of pills now. I'll keep you posted.
