Ok so this came up on a post from Facebook in a group I'm in and I commented about my 'security blanket' being a hoodie. I wear one all the timearound the house and when we go out to do errands, etc. I'm also going through menopause and have been thinking I may have been using it as a security blanket for my symptoms to ease and be more leveled or whatever, but I'm not sure if that's totally true. Like I said I'm going through menopause and get hot and cold flashes throughout the day and night (though I don't wear it at night to sleep in or with). Does anyone else have a 'security blanket' like this? Does it help or hinder your life in a profound way or a way at all, positive or negatively? Thanks for the feedback.

88FIn 1969 we decided to get married without a big wedding. Most of our friends and family liked large over the top for the time kind of weddings and I did not. First, I didn't see why spending so much money for one day when we have the rest of our lives to live. I have never regretted not having a big formal wedding. We're all troubled.WSo, to remind ourselves we're not at rock bottom (this is a reverse optimism thing I learned as a kid):We are not living on the island of Krakatoa when the volcano goes boom!Yeah, okay, that sucks.***Toay in 1942, Pierre Laval announced that the way to free France was for Germany to win WW2. Pierre did not win a lot of friends. When the war ended, quite quickly he was tried...

I also use talismans. When the conditions are set for me to slide off into psychosis, I find a pocket-sized doodad I can carry around with me and hold in my hands to use in grounding exercises while I navigate the storm. My current faves are rosaries. The trinity of the rosary dangles and gently gets in the way of everything I do as a compassionate reminder of my fragile condition. Does anything get in the way of my daily functions like being on the edge of psychosis?
I'm entering that kinda-sorta-pre-menopause of my personal thermostat being inaccurate. I live in layers of clothes that are readly discarded and easily washed if sweated through. Going barefoot is also a comfort thing for me.
People can't fully see my face or they stay back and don't try to engage too much when I am fragile. Some do for a short conversation. I can take it one at a time but more than that? The glasses hide the blankness or tears that overtake me. The hat is for the harsh light, which always bothers me except for sunset on the lake.
my service dog - big time. maybe my hair, definitely sun glasses.
