I think I can partly feel your pain. My relationship with my son's father ended in a most unfriendly manner and I had to leave behind a child who I loved as if he were my first son, but I was not the mother of (or step mother), After my childhood, I had very few skills at managing and maintaining relationships, or even speaking up for myself. And, when you add to that that his father had threatened me I was too afraid to try. Things have gone badly for and with that child (who is now an adult) since then. The father will never confess to the threats and let the child know the real reason why I was suddenly gone. Extended families were involved (not by me or on my behalf), and at one point there was at least one restraining order (not by me or against me or on my behalf). In my case there will
probably never be any going back and probably no reconnecting. Even though I'm a Christian and believe in doing the right thing and leaving revenge to God, there is a part of me that at least once in a while wishes I'd been willing to do one really very very bad thing to rescue my almost son. I know it would've been wrong, but "doing right" doesn't seem to have gotten the "right result". I just hope it wasn't the only way to save him ......... Ugh. People like the (spits again) father suck soooo bad.
Well, that's probably way too much of my story. If you get this and it's only 3-4 lines I probably edited out some scary stuff.
Do hang in there though. Get the distance you need to be healthy because a healthy you will better know how and when you can have contact with your brother or anyone else and still stay healthy. Do your best to keep in touch and maybe when he's older he'll understand.
Peace and blessings..
PS. Paperwork, especially online, is hard for me too. I know how to fill it out, but intake paperwork can be so thoroughly personal and feels invasive and I just don't want to put it all in writing. I don't know whether that's your reason or not, but definitely persevere. It will be worth it in the end,... I hope :)
