I love how SunCloud has started this tradition here on DSPTSD of having a check in every few days to see how folks are doing, so I decided to post a check in today Saturday since the last one was on Tuesday.
As for me, I'm doing better at week's end than I was doing earlier, though for some reason I had 5 flashbacks back to my childhood's 6 years in combat during a civil war my family and I survived when I was a missionary kid overseas.
They weren't visual flashbacks with a picture of what happened like you see flashbacks portrayed in movies. Those here who have them, too, know what I mean when I say that they were emotional flashbacks instead. They were like a sudden hiccup with a chill down my spine and an adrenaline rush so I could run for cover.
My PTSD therapist helped me learn to get through them and go on with whatever I was doing at the time an emotional flashback like that hit. Still, 5 of them throughout my day left me fatigued by bed time.
So far I haven't had any today, so today I'm doing ok. How are y'all doing?

Here is my new brother, copper :) He's so tiny! Moo and Tuck were ok with him on first meeting. Rocket due to his severe aggression will never meet Cooper.

one of my favorite cinematic portrayals of ptsd flashbacks was presented by john voight's daughter, angelna jolie in the movie, "bone collector." she busted the bad guy with those flashbacks and a bit of coaching from that piece of eye candy, denzel washington.

here's to hoping you continue to learn from your PTSD therapist. don;t let him/her overprescribe the medications.
Otherwise, wet and mild here, which is weird. My PTSD is suffering from a blow ---- no rejoining Hubby in our bedroom. I have to turn a storage room into a bedroom for myself. It breaks my heart that his cancer has left this on him, this terror of not sleeping, to such an extent that even another presence in the room can freak him out, but.... Even his therapist said this is the last chance for him to heal. So, I'm off buying a wall mural kit to make it feel like it's a bigger room.
I hate confined spaces. Hopefully, the mural will work. It's "3-D" but the fourth dimension is my fears, so wee'll see, eventually.....
Big hugs to everyone
My mind & body got a little hijacked last night …. I was watching this show about gang violence, organized crime, sexual assault & other stuff that I’m nervous to even write because I don’t want to start freezing up too much … it hit way too close to home as they say. I started getting flashbacks but then I don’t know my mind & body got stuck in this weird in between of adrenaline & freezing. It felt like I was frozen but the adrenaline was locked in. It felt really bad & all I wanted was it to go away. When I finally was able to move I took an anxiety medication & stayed up drinking coffee because I was too afraid to go to sleep. But I ended up sitting there for hours just staring.
Hope I didn’t write too much but I thought maybe you guys would understand
I still feel weird today but I’m trying my best .. maybe I can draw some butterflies or nature stuff later & color it in to try to calm mind
Anyways hope everyone’s doing okay as I’m writing this <3 <3 <3
I was binge watching Come Dine With Me with my roomie/landlord today
Nice and relaxing
Sending hugs to anyone who needs one...xo
just betting like an irishwoman and trusting my bookie to do the research.
I like the idea of check-ins, they keep us connected and in touch, especially with ourselves.
I'm doing good today. It's Sunday and the weather is finally cooperating and my mood has improved. I'm glad for that. Muji I think all of us can relate to the emotional flashbacks. I hope they have let up on you.
Today it was not to be. My PTSD got triggered, and I’ve been in an episode for 5 hours straight now. Due to my CKD from too many PTSD meds that bad doc gave me (and boy would I like to give him a piece of my mind right now) I can’t take any Ativan or anything.
The worst part is that it’s a PTSD episode that somehow has to do with the car bombing I survived as a kid in Uruguay’s civil war when I was nine. I’ve had that ringing in my eyes from the blast for all five hours now. War just isn't good for children, I must say.
truer words were never spoken, mujica. not even for the 21st century children. may 2060 find today's victims happier than you are today.
just praying while i sing along with bob dylan.
