Tuesday morning I was out dealing with plumbing/sceptic tank problems at my father-in-law's farm rental property when I got a call from my son. He had a car accident. I got the plumbing project to a point where I could leave it and went off to play rescue ranger. On the way, traffic came to a halt on the interstate and the car behind me slammed into me. Sigh. No good deed shall go unpunished. Sure is a helpless feeling watching the approach in the rear view with nowhere to go. At least my car is still working. My son's car is totalled.
Spent the next three nights sleeping on the floor of my son's apartment, inadequately packed for the occasion, so that I could give rides, etc. Feeling like I don't own cars. Cars own me...
All in all, it was a good visit. I was still able to enjoy time with the grandson and family, but the automotive joys are still going and I am having a hard time coming back to Earth.
Just venting...

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

First, I hope everyone is doing well, and continuing to fight that good fight! Keep up the great work on yourselves; I'm rooting for all of you!So, I started doing therapy at the beginning of the year, when I was in my most depressed state, but with my therapist, I made big changes and steps in the right direction. But, over a month ago, she couldn't take my insurance anymore, and I had to stop...
My eyes POPPED OUT. So glad you're ok. How'd that do your PTSD symptoms? I'm so glad you were still able to write "All in all, it was a good visit." You're one heckuva good sport, arfie. What "rough weeks" indeed.
So sorry.
Violence was not a big part of my PTSD formation. Systematic sexual abuse and unceasing stress were my biggies. I can handle sudden trauma well. In fact, I am the person you want around in an emergency. That is when the world is actually moving at a speed that makes sense to my hyper-active nature.
I fall apart later. I think I held up fairly well during the days with my son and his family. My son and his wife know about my PTSD and took care to give me the space and support to my program. The yaddahs of the blahs caught up with me last night. I have been treating it like a case of the flu. Lots of rest and TLC. This morning I sought out a friend who let me vent further. As they say in Alanon, "It works if you work it and you're worth it."
Thanks for the support, guys. It really does help.
Good, smart way to treat those aftershocks. Be well.
