Yeah, I believe in the inner child stuff. I've been trying to be nice to "little Muji" more and more. I appreciate the encouragement.
I admire anyone who comes forward to ask for help. It is not easy to admit to having a mental health problem. It takes real courage and sometimes despirstion to take that first step.
I admire those who have the courage to speak about it publicly. They show true vulnerability by putting themselves all out there. The stigma attached to mental health is still there, all the talk about it has just driven it under ground. Lots if lip service but no action on real change and acceptance. Those who pubically come forward risk it all by doing so but there beliefs are stronger than stigma itself.
I admire those who have fought the battle in a court room. They inspired me to do so also. It is not a battle for all to under take and it has to be a personal decision, I respect that too. For those that choose to fight, you have won regardless of the courts decission. You stood up for yourself and exposed the other party forever casting a shadow of doubt over them.
I admire Dr Ruth Lanius and Karen Schurmans for their work to identify and map the brain during triggers. It was ground breaking work that proved the front lob shut down but the right rear area of the brain was online. It made PTSD rwsly it was proof it was a brain disorder.
I admire my therapist, who was part of that team who mapped the brain. Amazing to work with someone who could explain exactly what my brain was doing and why. It helped me to see the larger picture and be able to help myself more. It gave me hope that I could beat PTSD and did not need to be crippled by it. She was amazing to work with and I miss her dearly. I just want to pick her brain to know more about PTSD and what she knows. She was a great resource.
I admire dr. Brene Brown who is the author of many books including "Daring Greatly". Her books changed my life. Her books on shame and vulnerability really hit hime with me and made me more aware of these 2 things. For a researcher these are easy reading and her own experiences made me realize I am human and it is ok to feel lose and confused but it is not ok to do nothing about it, one must have courage to continue on. We all have courage just some of us do not recognize it. Worth the read. No other book has done so much for me. It was a real aha moment and life changing.
The folks here at DS are inspiring to me. Everyday they struggle with the same problems I do yet they find the courage, heart and kindness to help, comfort and support those of us who need it when we post. It is truly a selfless act of kindness that means so much to me. It is huge reason why I keep push everyday it find the path to wellness. I can feel secure in knowing that if and when I fall there is a safety net to catch me. It is that safety net that allows me to get back up again and climb again. I know the group here has my back. This gives me core to breath in life and move forward even through it is the scariest thing I have ever done.
This is an amazing support network.
I am sure I am missing a few but that is all I can think of right now.
Good post
I think it is a great resource because it is probably the best parts of what psychology could be before the mass into of psychiatric drugs to the general population.
