This past weekend I went on an overnight trip by myself to the city 2 hours away. I read a good book, I went to see a ball game. All by myself, yes. But, wow, was it restorative. I get worn down by the daily grind of working with my PTSD around lots of people. When I get time away from them all for myself, it is surprising to me that it doesn't take long for me feel like a new person.
Does this happen to anyone else? I'm asking because I forget this is possible for me. I lose sight of it. I completely forget it ever happened in the past so I can hope for it in my future. I can get down about what an exhausting marathon daily life can be like, tending to so many needs from so many people from so many directions. Tending to their stress while trying to deal with the triggers of mine. I get weary just struggling to be functional with the burden of PTSD added to every day's chores.
I need to remind myself to have the assurance that from time to time I'm going to be restored again as I run this PTSD obstacle course. How about you?

I'm feeling down,, and got alot on my mind right now. I got grief going on, on top my depression and anxiety and now I got to worry about somewhere to live since I can't afford living here since my mom passed. So many bad things have happened since my mom passed. One thing after another it seems. Yesterday our fence fell from a storm that hit, had to call someone to prop it up. Thank...
The ball game and city sounds so great! I am proud of you :)
My restorative for yesterday was a 20 hour nap in the most inaccessible corner I could find. Might get me another one today... Those sinus infections can be nasty business here in the allergy capital of the world. Austin sits at the intersection of 5 distinct geological zones. We get the plant allergens from all 5 of those zones. Spring is busting out all over... Achoooooo...
I do little things for myself though all the time....I love to read and I get lost in a good book... music and films... but getting out and making this effort is great!!... It's nice to hear the gratitude as well... Big hug
Me, I find my restoration in quiet time with dirt, grass, trees, anything nature and away from people....
And I enjoy the waiting room at my therapist's office. T hey have a therapy dog there, who comes and keeps us all company. It's so great. We end up chatting and being friendly with the dog as our "facilitator". It's really good, like "Oh, yeah, this is life outside the psych stuff, just nice and average everyday stuff!" VERY refreshing.
