Residential Treatment Centers?
deleted_user
Hi all,
Well, I posted a little while ago about fall being hard for me...
Turns out that things are quickly spiraling out of control and I can't help but destroy everything I touch...
I'm looking into residential treatment centers but not having much luck. The ones I am finding seem to center around addiction recovery, and I'm not an addict.
The most promising that I've found so far is timberline knolls... They focus on eating disorders but also deal with trauma and mood disorders. I definitely have food issues, along with other self-destructive behaviors such as burning and Rx med abuse.
I am NOT looking for a locked down hospital type setting as these places are more traumatizing than anything, coupled with the fact that I don't need that high of a level of care.
Any suggestions or advice (good or bad)?
Thanks,
Cerah

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
I just don't want to be in a locked down unit where I have to ask to do anything and everything as loss of control is a huge trigger for me and in these types of settings, I feel like I have no control over my treatment.
Thanks for your reply!
I'm now looking into an intensive outpatient program closer to home (it's in WV). I have to fill out a bunch of paperwork over the next few days and do some phone interviews as well. It's just so frustrating that there's so little out there for help between a locked down hospital unit and regular therapy. I belong to a community mental health center but they're overbooked and understaffed. Not to mention that they don't know much about PTSD! But such is life... I live in a rural area as it is and have to drive an hour down to the city for therapy.
