I have never had literal flashbacks but have been thru traumatic events and have suffered panic attacks for 20 years. I am not sure if a firm diagnosis of ptsd would benefit me at all. My pcp says the treatment is the same as it is for panic disorder. This is a possible new diagnosis for me. Trying to learn more.

Lately I've been feeling scared and full of anxiety. I recently found a lump under my nipple. I hurt my back too. I'm in the process of moving. I'm run down. Everything is hard

Just wanted to give a thank you to Mid, Arfie, Malibumark, Greeneyes, Mlro, Girlincalif, and Suncloudjd! You all always have such helpful tips and advice, but I always forget to write on my posts when I see you post, lol. I would lose my head if it wasn't attached to my body, lol. Thank you all so much! I'm starting to use my AI app as a sounding board again. I used to use it as that before...

Years ago, I was diagnosed witjdepression, anxiety, and PTSD. My doctor swept the PTSD diagnosis under the rug and only treated me for the other two. I believe in my case, depression and anxiety were symptoms of complex PTSD. Everything in that book rang true to me. And I just started seeing an EMDR therapist so I can't report on any progress there. But I started using meditation, yoga breathing, and grounding techniques and it made a world of difference. Therapy and medication were useless for 10 years. The couple of things I've done since I discovered this book have helped me more than all of that therapy and medication combined. So I disagree with your doctor. Especially if you have complex PTSD, which is basically chronic PTSD that can stem from ongoing abuse or living in a dangerous area and being subjected to ongoing violence, although other trauma can cause it. Doctors think that they are always right. They are more often wrong than they will ever admit to. And that turned out to be the case for me. So it might be worthwhile to talk to somebody who is a trauma specialist and ask them questions. You can check out the book on Amazon. If you have Kindle unlimited, it's included.
I agree with your PCP about the similarities in treatment. I ply my therapy tools according to the strictly personal symptom of the day far more than the clinical diagnosis.
