Hi I'm new to this site and would love to hear from you, can people get PTSD from so much arguing in marriage? I feel like my mind starts to wander off and I have feelings of dizziness when my spouse and I start up new arguments. They happen weekly and we're currently in therapy now (our second session is today). He has needs he wants met which include social media outlets for a platform he wants to create which may result in future business opportunities, and riding his bullet bike (which he promised 4th date in he would get rid of after I told him that would be a deal breaker for me if he kept). My heart starts racing when he gets louder and my mind starts wandering off I think as a self protect strategy not sure. I have stonewalled to protect as well. Yesterday i told him he needed to lower his voice if he wanted to keep talking and I got up and started leaving the room... Any opinions or information would be helpful thanks. Oh and PS, I hate social media LOL. I wish facebook, and instagram and tik tok offices would all just crash and burn for all the mental health problems and relationship problems they're causing in society today. SO SUPERFICIAL.

88FIn 1969 we decided to get married without a big wedding. Most of our friends and family liked large over the top for the time kind of weddings and I did not. First, I didn't see why spending so much money for one day when we have the rest of our lives to live. I have never regretted not having a big formal wedding. Another issue is not liking all the attention. Also, we have gone to big...

We're all troubled.WSo, to remind ourselves we're not at rock bottom (this is a reverse optimism thing I learned as a kid):We are not living on the island of Krakatoa when the volcano goes boom!Yeah, okay, that sucks.***Toay in 1942, Pierre Laval announced that the way to free France was for Germany to win WW2. Pierre did not win a lot of friends. When the war ended, quite quickly he was tried...

PTSD is associated with any trauma you might be going through or have experienced which can include arguing.
I think you are doing the right thing by seeking therapy. If you'll let it and be open to suggestion it can help tremendously.
On the other hand by involving too many people in your marriage with a bias opinion it can hurt more then help.
i am definitely no expert, but i think i said that to the therapist because "Post-Trauma Stress Disorder" to me meant after repeated traumas that shook me to my core, i became very stressed about anything that looked like a recurrence (and i was right as often as i was wrong about what he called my doomsday worries). And perhaps, yes, it was disordered thinking. But that is where i was. It was why i acted like i did (very jumpy and scared, deja-vu experiences, having nightmares, etc). I said it as a description to convey to the therapist, and that was when i first learned it can be a real problem for a history of repeated stress, and not always a singular event.
Anyway that was years ago and now my personal psychiatrist is saying the same thing, in his bundle of diagnoses.
Take care of yourself!
