I've been diagnosed with PTSD since 1995, but this past year I decided to "come out of the closet" about it, with both good and bad results. But mostly good. It was really something I did for me so I could push back on the stigma I got so tired of. I speak about PTSD, then, every other month or so, at a church.
I did it again today. In the days leading up to one of those church speaking dates about PTSD, I always get pretty nervous. SInce PTSD is by definition an anxiety disorder, that makes sense. Still, I can get so nervous I sometimes think about chickening out and canceling.
I considered canceling yesterday, Saturday, before speaking about it today at this church on Sunday. But I didn't. And lo and behold, it was OK. The talk back afterwards from the audience was nice.
In spite of all, I just wanted to pass on the result, which was that after my talk I heard from the audience that there are people out there who care about those of us who have PTSD.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

First, I hope everyone is doing well, and continuing to fight that good fight! Keep up the great work on yourselves; I'm rooting for all of you!So, I started doing therapy at the beginning of the year, when I was in my most depressed state, but with my therapist, I made big changes and steps in the right direction. But, over a month ago, she couldn't take my insurance anymore, and I had to stop...
Congrats on another successful outreach.
Me? I've been misunderstood for so many decades that I get nervous when people claim they understand. Makes me worry they are going to commandeer my coping mechanisms.
