Psychosis - expanding comfort zone

Varients of the word, "Psychosis" have been popping up all over my life lately. Most shocking of all, nobody seems to be talking about me when they are using the word. At least. . . Well. . . Ya never can tell when folks are dropping hints instead of just speaking their minds. . .Whatever those whatevers, I find myself wanting (?needing?) to be more comfortable with the word. I sure feel stiff, confused and dirty when I use it. Language freak that I am, I am starting with the etymology (word origin). Hope my copy and paste works here. . . Root word: "Psyche."psy·che1ˈsīkē/nounnoun: psyche; plural noun: psychesthe human soul, mind, or spirit."I will never really fathom the female psyche"synonyms:soul, spirit, (inner) self, ego, true being, inner man/woman, persona, subconscious, mind, intellect; technicalanima "getting in touch with your own psyche"antonyms:bodyOriginmid 17th century: via Latin from Greek psukhē ‘breath, life, soul.----------end of copy/paste-----------Not at all sure what I am reaching for here. Just reaching. . . Anything goes. . .

Here is my new brother, copper :) He's so tiny! Moo and Tuck were ok with him on first meeting. Rocket due to his severe aggression will never meet Cooper.

Suffix meaning a process, condition, or state, usually abnormal or diseased; production or increase, physiologic or pathologic; an invasion or infestation; in the latter sense, it is similar to and often interchangeable with Greek -iasis, as seen in trichinosis, trichiniasis (courtesy some online pasting).
So... is it infestation, is it abnormal, I have no idea.... but I think "disrupted" works for me. B/c the abuse sure as heck disrupted my life and inner self.... My odd ramble in reply. Much support, Arfie.
I just came to chat. What's going on, brother?
I always took "Psycho-babble" to be the latest psychology theories. By my second decade of Self-help book obsession, I was often accused of "Psycho-babbling." Several of my pro therapists were in that choir. I think I am beginning to agree with them.
Just my thoughts here... setting aside spirituality and physics, i have always wondered if our brain is not breaking down into psychosis but rather it is opening up another path into a part of the brain most people never access. Like johnycake says, too warped to pass as normal? Normal being the key word here. I think it is sad society dictates what is normal or not. Meh, babble away and call it what you like to call it ;)
On the physical end, I am quite enchanted with the "Brain Plasticity" theories coming out of Stockholm. They disagree with the notions that the brain is inflexibly structured and are working on ways to route new neural pathways around damaged brain centers. They agree with the notion that "dementia" and "psychosis" are a natural part of that physical process. I think. It is a massive chunk of comparatively new theory/research I am attempting to summarize. The Stockholm Brain Institute is a brainy collective by any definition of the word, "brainy."
I had a good friend who has schizophrenia and we used to joke that of all of the disorders this is the one that no one wants to have
Sadly enough I said 'had' because he has schizophrenia of the paranoid type and he decided that he didn't like me or want to be my friend anymore out of the blue and it was later determined that he'd gone off of his medication
Psychosis is scary because we don't feel in control... I remember going through seeing 'shadow people' and hearing voices and feeling terror... Bloody awful stuff
So it's understanding that this word can conjure up unpleasant feelings I think for a number of reasons... Perhaps a trigger do you think Arf?
Big hug for you and a blessing...xo
The folks who have been bringing that body of words into my life lately are far more word sensitive than I am. I am looking for ways to take the sting out of the stigmata while we discuss healing hopes and strategies. It helps to have freedom of speech while we discuss it.
Just hoping. . . The healing of one is the healing of us all.
