You chose, O loving God,
to enter this world
quietly, humbly, and as an outcast.
Hear our prayers
on behalf of all who are abused:

For children,
who suffer at the hands
of parents whom they trust and love;
for spouses,
beaten and destroyed
by the very one
who promised to love
and to cherish them forever;
for all people
ignored, hated and cheated.
by the very neighbor
who could be the closest one
to offer your love.

Hear the cry of the oppressed.
Let the fire of your Spirit fill their hearts
with the power of vision, and hope.
Grant to them empowerment to act,
that they may not be passive victims
of violence and hatred.
Fulfill for them the promises you have made,
that their lives may be transformed
and their oppression ended.

Turn the hearts of the oppressor unto you
that their living may be changed
by your forgiving love;
and their abusive actions
and oppressive ways brought to an end.

God, I praise You for Your awesome promise that You will not withhold anything good from me when my life is pleasing to You. Help me to do what is right in Your sight today. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Heavenly Father, I sometimes get into relationships that are not good for me.
Please help me better discern how I relate to the people in my life
and give me the wisdom to know when a relationship is not giving you glory and is harmful to me.
Bring me courage to avoid toxic relationships and help nurture what is good and just in all things.

God, thank You for promising many things to me as I am faithful to seek You in prayer. Today, I pray for strength and a new resolve to step out and have full faith in You. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Almighty and everliving God, in your tender love for the human race you sent your Son our Savior Jesus Christ to take upon him our nature, and to suffer death upon the cross, giving us the example of his great humility: Mercifully grant that we may walk in the way of his suffering, and also share in his resurrection; who lives and reigns for ever and ever. O God, Master of this passing world, hear the humble voices of Your children. The Sea of Galilee obeyed Your order and returned to its former quietude; You are still the Master of land and sea. We live in the shadow of danger over which we have no control. The chasm, like a provoked and angry giant, awakes from its hidden place, yawning wide to swallow us and spread chaos and disaster.
During this crisis, we turn to You, O loving Father. Spare us from past tragedies whose memories are still so vivid and whose wounds seem to refuse to heal with the passing of time.
O Virgin, Star of the Sea, Our Beloved Mother, we ask you to plead with your Son in our behalf, so that spared from the calamities common to this disease and animated with a true spirit of gratitude, we will walk in the footsteps of your Divine Son to reach the heavenly Jerusalem where a deathless eternity awaits us. Amen.
