My daytime "nightmares" have not arisen in awhile (thankfully), but nightmares still come at times (though they are less often, also thankfully), so are they flashbacks or nightmares, I think it's semantics as they are both ways for my mind trying to process the trauma so that I can "understand" it better. As we reframe the events of abuse (39 years for me), our mind does not trigger as easily, so whatever you call it it is part of the minds process needed to find itself.
So yes, I guess :-)
I don't know if there's a different name for it, because you're sleeping or supposed to be. I just know that If I'm tired the next day and dont remember anything from my sleep...it was a night of restless, meaningless nightmares and sleep. Telling myslef this in the morning gives me some peace. Knowing maybe it wasnt a flashblack for me.
On the other hand, when I wake myself with flashbacks all night long, well i still wake up tired...but I know why.
May u get some needed rest my friend ;)
