Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are,--
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield."
Strive on with heroic hearts, my DS PTSD friends.
I'd say you have to live some to get the full grasp of that.
When i read thinkers like Bertnard Russell quotes and Thomas Paine quotes...Sometimes tears roll down my eyes because i loved thinking and was a deep thinkers since i was a child......That they try to cut that out of me...is one of the worse abuses among others....But that one affected me so much and to think a big % of capacity was lost.....
So i love thinkers and how they write their deep thoughts...
Not sure if this is true for you, but I probably lean that way because I am looking for some type of objective truth to hang onto. Something to make it all make sense.
Trigger Warning- that's not a light movie on any level, contains themes of abuse and power differences. While good prevails, there is heavy stuff contained in getting to that point.
Crooked Finger's character ultimately hung himself (the ultimate in dispair over human condition). I loved his character, none the less. To me his reveling of intellectual ideas along with Antonia's grand daughter, showed how for some of us, the beauty contained in thinking can be shared and enjoyed.
I wouldn't reduce this to the explanation that I think to avoid feeling (although many might say that). I feel deep enjoyment from those persuits and reading of people who understand it that way too.
So, super duper geek alert: my best memories as a kid are of things like working geometry outside of school (not homework, just stuff I did), and studying the atlas of the human body with the plastic overlays of the body systems. I have always required long periods of time to explore stuff like that to reenergize enough to deal with being around people.
So perhaps the subject matter is different, but I feel that way about reading the works of thinker too.
My PTSD makes it very hard for me to concentrate but i do find beauty in authors like Carl Sagan and thinkers....makes me think that life is beautiful and amazing.....and in moments of clarity i have fun thinking my own insights and conclusions after reading them...its one of my hobbies..lol...
"nerd alert"..lol....you guys are funny...
