Is it my imagination, or has "Narcissist" become the amateur psych diagnosis of the year?
At least it is fun to say. . . Kinda trills off the tongue like a supercalifragilisticexpialadocious.

Just wanted to give a thank you to Mid, Arfie, Malibumark, Greeneyes, Mlro, Girlincalif, and Suncloudjd! You all always have such helpful tips and advice, but I always forget to write on my posts when I see you post, lol. I would lose my head if it wasn't attached to my body, lol. Thank you all so much! I'm starting to use my AI app as a sounding board again. I used to use it as that before...

Hey all, i know its been quite awhile since i posted on here. Its been a summer all right. Its been something else........... You know how they say not to open the can of worms? Well a few months ago i decided to find out what my due date would have been for my first baby, the one conceived by r***. My baby would have been due on March 4th of 2006. They would be 20 years old. I was R**** on June...

Narcissist got current a couple years ago, in pop culture, but it is a legit dx, so I try to only use it that way myself. As in, Narcissistic Personality Disorder.
One reason it's getting more "air time", I think, is that the "famous for being famous" phenomenon has been analyzed by talking head shrinks on TV as "manifestations of narcissistic personality disorder".
But that's all my opinion, and what the he** do I know? I took the NPD screening test, because I was so freaked about being one, and I scored so low my psychiatrist had me re-take it a month later. Nope. I'm below-normal-narcissism, nowhere near anyone with a reality TV program.
Rambling. Apologies. Supercalifragalisticexpi.... What you said.
Slang will come. Slang will go. Names will change. But for the sake of keeping a sense of cohesion in my personal recovery, I feel like I need to put extra work into sorting the wheat (recovery) from the chaff (slang).
I first met Narcissus in Greek mythology (http://www.greekmyths-greekmythology.com/narcissus-myth-echo/) when I was in elementary school. Yes, I was that much of a book worm. . . My speech defect made it so that I could read and write long before I could talk. Turns out that was around the time it was first being officiated as a psychiatric disorder. (http://psychology.about.com/od/psychiatricdisorders/a/history-Of-narcissistic-personality-disorder.htm) Not the first time it has made the slang gangs.
No big. Just being nerdy. I still love the way the phonetics (funetics?) roll off my tongue.
The narcissist catharsisist simply can't resist
Telling everyone and everything how it should exist
The wrong of you 'taint nothin' new
To the slanging narcissist
They will declare your disorders by the order
Of their expert narcissism
Let it be about me and I will set you free
To serve my every wish
It's trendy, but give it five minutes. This too shall become passe and soon some other Dr Phil-ism will fill the airwaves.
As for the "funetics" of the word, If you think that the title fits you because it sounds beautiful...you are probably right in your mind. Unable to see the negatives of it.
Love the poem. :)

I reserve the right to have fun with the phonetics. It gives me something to do in the waiting room. . .
A meningi met an encephali and left us all in a my oh my
It made the docs want to cry
It made the victims up and die
When it turned into a menincephali
