Hi, y'all, as you know my coping with our chronic PTSD here means also coping with the Chronic Kidney Disease or CKD I got 13 years ago. A bad psychiatrist overdosed me with Seroquel for my PTSD nightmares, and ruined my kidneys.
The kidney doc who was added to the mix along with a new, different, and better psychiatrist ordered dialysis for me. But I was a hospital chaplain for 10 years before all of this and I got called to the dialysis unit of my hospital a lot. It was never to say how glad patients were to be getting dialysis. To the contrary, it was to ask me to get them the Against Medical Advice form so they could quit dialysis instead. None of them was glad they'd begun it. And when you begin it, you're more at risk that ever if you quit it.
My kidney doc said when I said thanks but no thanks to dialysis that I'd be dead in a year. Instead, I kept working my job for 11 years and just retired 2 years ago. I had fainted 5 times over the years because my kidneys didn't supply my blood with enough oxygen. The last time I fainted in class, so that was time for me to retire at 63, then.
Today was one of those fainting days for me. I couldn't stand up from just sitting in a chair without blacking out and then coming to if I sat back down. Neuropathy pain is bad with CKD because your nerves in your hands and feet are oxygen starved. I can push through pain so as to function, though, even as my kidneys don't even allow so much as aspirin for the pain much less any of the other stronger painkillers.
But when my brain is oxygen starved and I keep blacking out it gets in the way of my having any kind of productive day. If you pray, please pray that tomorrow the blood flow to my brain's a little richer. Support welcome. Thanks.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

prayers ongoing for both of us. . .
is it good news that i don't have to remind myself to take small steps on my dizzy days?
Here with you amigo, keeping you in my prayers for sure. I hope you’re doing okay as I’m writing this
Gentlest of hugs <3
Yesterday's CKD due to PTSD meds gave me dizziness yesterday because of a lack of oxygen to my brain. Today it gave me pain in my extremities due to lack of oxygen to my hands and feet. As always, I can't take any painkillers because they pass through the kidneys, not even aspirin. I just have to gut it out.
I did. I hope I get a day without either the fainting or the neuropathy pain tomorrow. I had a day like that this past Sunday, and what a blessing it was.
I'm so glad you've been seizure free for over nine years now. That's amazing. Before I retired from community college teaching nursing courses for years I had an assistant who was epileptic. He had a seizure in class one day. Even though the classroom was filled with nursing students, it really spooked them. In ten years of teaching with him alongside me that was the only one but it was plenty. Poor guy, he loved cars and NASCAR racing dearly, and I went to races with him a lot. Yet he himself couldn't qualify for a driver's license due to his epilepsy. It was kind of cruel, it seemed to me. Great guy, and his wife was lovely, too.
