I'll be in and out of airports Sat March 11 and Sun March 12 as I return for Spring Break to the place in Mexico where I spent Winter Break. I'll probably be able to be connected to DS PTSD this Break like I was last Break, but I wanted to leave this message here just in case I wasn't heard from as regularly as usual. Talk to you next time from the road, amigos!

Here is my new brother, copper :) He's so tiny! Moo and Tuck were ok with him on first meeting. Rocket due to his severe aggression will never meet Cooper.

I've usually booked my flight and made my hotel reservations months before as something to look forward to, something to live for in the humdrum of the daily work grind. As the time to fulfill the actual plan approaches, though, that point of booking the flight and making the hotel reservations has been consumed. It has served its purpose in putting that illusion of a goal before me that has gotten me through.
I know it's all been a motivational illusion, a milepost I put out there on the horizon so I would have something to work toward. That's why when reality time comes and it's time to make the travel plan real, the PTSD part of me balks. Part of me doesn't want to play along. In fact, it not only doesn't want to cooperate, it starts trauma-catastrophizing that this is a trip that's not going to work out. This is a trip that's going to be a bummer or even worse, a disaster, traumatic.
The thing is that I can't remember a single trip in my life, not one ever, that's been a bummer. Movement is the only constant in my life, starting when I was a missionary kid raised by two mentally ill fanatical parents who weren't welcome anywhere for long.
Thanks, everybody. I'm having a good time just being out and about. I'm on a long layover in the Atlanta airport, but enjoying it, believe it or not. It's great to tell PTSD friends how that goes with folks like us who are not used to a good time.

It is so great for a newbie like me to see that it can all work out. Can't wait to hear how it goes.
