In my own strictly personals, the "Toxic" and "Narcissist" fads share a common element in that I was well acquainted with both before they were co-opted by pop psychobabble. I first met "Narcissus" in Greek mythology in my "mute" years, before my speech therapy advanced far enough to get me talking in early adolescence in the late 60's. I am not even sure when "Narcissist" became a pop psych dx, but I do know it took me quite a few rounds to realize I was in the wrong library for the discussion. Ditto for the Toxic Fad. I had worked quite allot of environmental engineering projects before the Toxic Fad hit. Different libraries and labs, too. . . Earth to fashion followers, earth to pop psychologists. . . Reality check in process. . . What's in YOUR landfill? Let's get literal, my allegedly non-toxic human.

I posted a comment on gaslighting, based on family abuse and got a lot of comments and conversation about it. Talk about toxic people! You may want to google it or search for the many responses of people that have been victimized by this ghastly abuse.

I still use "emotional constipation," Dooo, especially when speaking to my Super Hubs about exploding gall bladders and other stress symptoms. Every pro in his network has lectured him about his stress levels since long before the 3 near death experiences with his gall bladder and. . . I let them do the nagging these days.

Ya got me "googling," though. . . Less than a million hits. Guess I am guilty of using out-dated psychobabble. It was a key phrase in my early amnesia therapy. It sure fit my therapy needs during those years. By the time I was discharged from the Army in 1976, the stick up my ass had a stick up its ass. Emotionally constipated to the max. . . I was too disciplined to have feelings. Not counting flashbacks, etc., of course. "Denial" is just a river in North Africa.
