New to group: retraumatised Child sexual Abuse
Hi, I'm new to this site. I struggled with PTSD in my twenties over two decades ago, it has not troubled me for a while. i thought I was in a very good place mentally and physically. I recently took part in the Truth Project an investigation into child sexual abuse and the process has retriggered flashbacks and memories and completely retraumatised me.
I am in my fifth week now, I have not been to work and some days like today I feel I can barely function.
up until this point all my memories of the abuse were as if it was another child and not me, with this now all of the memories and flashbacks are as if it happened to me. In my twenties my therapist said that the abuse was so severe and occurred over so many years that in order to function my brain kind of dissociated but now all of those awful awful memories are mine. I'm struggling to find a new balance.

Which explains the mysterious fevers and my extra fatigue. I'm so glad I pushed for answers.

Due to my increased paranoia, anxiety, and a panic attack over the weekend, my psychiatrist has put me back in a full dose of Zyprexa until further notice. Every time I think I'm getting ahead something happens and it's back to square one. I knew he was gonna do this but I can't help feeling disappointed. It is what it is.

In 1972, when child prostitution/pornography drove me to psychotherapy, I had **forgotten** my entire childhood. I was shocked to non-forgiveness when my shrinks kept saying, "Amnesia" like it was a bad thing. It was the late 80's before I was able to understand the problems with amnesia. We never **really** forget, do we? Who needs to forgive what can be forgotten?
When it is a pleasant memory, we are, "Reminded." When it is a traumatic memory, we are, "Triggered." Contemplating the mechanical diffs between the two remains an important part of my still going psychotherapy.
Dunno if that makes any sense, whatsoever. Just sharing. . .
Welcome aboard. Hope you find stabilizing companionship here.
Last night I really struggled with the knowledge that I will be living with the PTSD long term. Sometimes I don’t think I have the energy to keep dealing with it all.
