I was "referred" here and maybe it'll help... who knows? Anyways, I've been struggling with PTSD for about 4 years (since I was 14/15) and everything just keeps coming back and I've been bed ridden for days because nothing seems to help my flashbacks or panic attacks and every time I close my eyes, I see those horrible images in my head and I'm scared I'm going to do something to myself if I get out of bed. I just want to be done with this

Here is my new brother, copper :) He's so tiny! Moo and Tuck were ok with him on first meeting. Rocket due to his severe aggression will never meet Cooper.

I use to see a psychologist and she would tell me ways that can help with flashbacks like ways to ground yourself.
I'm sorry you have a reason to be here but everyone here is really nice and helpful.
I know taking medications and going to the doctor is hard. Especially when you're young and you're taking as many pills as your grandparents, but you can only help yourself so much without professionals. PTSD is so complicated, it NEEDS professional help.
Once you start taking the steps to get help, it does get better. And you're already taking a step by logging onto this site and reaching out.
Nobody in my family tree on either side going back generations had ever gone to a psychologist, so they all piled on to call me the crazy one. But in therapy I learned I'd been born into a really dysfunctional family system, one with no boundaries. I was referred from a general psychologist to one who specialized in PTSD because at 13 my collapsing episode had been a sever PTSD panic attack. We got started being very specific about what my symptoms were and what to do about each one. Like this guy Pete Walker's website.

So sorry for what brought you here, but glad you were referred to us. I'm just another patient, not a doctor, but that's why as a patient I can say coming here, having a therapist, and having a psychiatrist who has prescribed Prazosin as a med for my nightmares has gotten my life going after it just all collapsed. Much support to you.
Bed is the worst possible place for me to deal with my own flashbacks. I often think my flashbacks are a sort of dream I have while I am awake and where better to "dream" than in bed? But then, every case of PTSD is unique. Each of us have to find what works for us through a process of trial and error.
Gentle support while you find what works for you, Jason. Hope you find healing companionship here.
we try to find trauma trained therapists as it makes a huge difference in the care a person receives.
i wonder if you might be able to get in to see a dr/psychiatrist in an urgent appointment? i would try to be seen right away and perhaps over the break from school some of this can be under more control for you. what do you think?
i think you are worth it. you are definitely worth it.
It can help a great deal
This is a good board.... I'm sorry for what brought you here but I'm glad that you're here... Gentle hug.....xo
It definitely sounds like they made an error I'm judgment in regards to your treatment. LillyPotter is right, it's important to find a therapist who specializes in your specific trauma. There's no shame in telling your doctor that you need help again. PTSD can become easier to manage, but it never goes away. So it's CRUCIAL to have a good support system and be proactive.
